Picked up a 00 Mazda 626 2 days ago and there's some sort of modification fitted, see pics:

It appears to be going to the accelerator and clutch, there's also a cylinder mounted underneath with hoses attached going to this thing. The Gearstick is modded with a button as in pic. It's been disabled, doesn't appear to be doing anything now. Anyone know what it is?

Not trying to be smart, but did you not spot all these things when you were looking at it prior to purchase and ask what it was?!

    Some form of cruise control?

It was for a disabled driver. It's a button to actuate the clutch. I used to sell cars to disabled drivers, and this was a common modification.

Yes, but he claimed he didn't know, he took the car as a trade in. Its a (nearly) 12 year old car that runs well for €550, I wasn't too concerned as it was right on the money, clean and drives perfect

Not bad. Lovely, spotlessly clean car with what looks like a genuine 78k with nct till 8/12. Got it for €550, spent €250 on it on tyres, service and tidyup and I've got myself a very decent run-around for very little money. Well pleased.

You need to get the wire to the air intake temp sensor fixed. Looks like the wire is broken

Never seen this done before! Looks like a simple enough concept?

I think I need a set of plug leads and my mechanic says it's worth changing them to see if it solves the problem. I have been quoted €54 inc VAT for them in my local motor factors which is crazy. Anyone know anywhere I can get them cheaper?
