    Hey,

I'm looking for a good road bike, I had a Trek 1000 but sold it 2 years ago. Looking for something similar.

Galway area preferred but I'm willing to travel for the right bike.

Let me know what you have. Thanks.

    Those 2 statements don't mix I'm afraid.

To get something half way decent you need to start at a minimum of €500

I'm sure there must be someone selling a decent bike for a good price. I couldn't spend €500 on a bike because I didn't spend that much for my car!

Hey Tommy, I've a Trek 1000 that I've been thinking of selling. Some more details here: http://touch.boards.ie/thread/2056312986?page=2#post_73066432

It needs a new bottom bracket pretty soon. Factoring that in I'd say €260 with current BB or €290 with a new one.

Is that definitely the case? I was thinking rcently of looking for a "new" second hand bike to upgrade from a hybrid. I would have thought if someone bought a € 1,000 bike on CTW (assume top rate of tax so only € 490 from their pocket) and decided a few months later that cycling wasn't their thing or they wanted to upgrade then they'd be selling the bike for say 60-70% of what they paid for it?

    (sorry for hijacking thread!)

Whats the bottom bracket? I could be interested man, just need to have a look in the local bike shops when I get a chance.

Also what is the frame size?

Slightly above the budget of this thread, I think I would ask €450 for it. It has been sitting unused since I bought a new bike in June. I had planned on using it as a Winter bike but it never happened.

Bartape is practically brand new, the chain and cassette [12-26] have very very little mileage on them, and the brake blocks are as good as new. Standard double chainset and is Shimano 2300. There are a few small marks on the frame - stone chips etc - but it is in other wise perfect condition. Never crashed or dropped. Aluminium frame & carbon front fork. The wheels pictured below are unfortunately not for sale. It would have AlexRims R500's which have very little on them.

Frame is 58 cm. I'm 6'1 and it's perfect for me.
The bottom bracket is the bit at the bottom of the frame through which the pedal cranks connect to each other. It's not a big job to replace.
