Another Smart Phone Virgin

    Hi Guys
My other half is looking at upgrading from a pre-pay non-smart phone to a smart phone - either prepay or account.

She's a relatively light user - moderate calls and text usage with to-date little internet usage.

Would like decent camera, Radio, touch screen, reasonably quick internet, good selection of Apps

No preference with Operator - currently with O2, but they're rubbish, so happy to change.

She's currently paying approx 20-25 a month, and would go up to 40ish, but not interested in going much higher than that.

Have taken a look around and I think Three are offering a Sony Ericsson Experia Ray free on a €30/mth account for 18 mths. All the others - iphone, Samsung, HTC seem to be in 60-65+ range.

Is the Xperia Ray any good? What other phones/deals in that range should she be looking at?

    Cheers

If she's a light user, have a look at Tesco. Also Meteor. Voda & O2 are simply not competitive. Emobile is another option. Apart from Voda & O2, the rest of them are very competitive at the mo.. Best thing to do is get a sim card from each of them and try them out in an unlocked phone. That way you will establish signal & network reliability.

Take a look at Tesco Mobile, but if coverage is an issue with O2,bear in mind Tesco use that network as well and data downloads are not as quick just yet.;)

Vodafone have become a little more competitive, if you push the salesman you'll get some nice discounts. Overall they don't need to be competitive though they have the best coverage no other provider comes close. If your travelling a lot go with Vodafone. If your only going to be using it in a built up area with a good signal it doesn't matter go for the best price.
