Hi, I need to get my car timing belt done soon, it is a ford fiesta lx 1.25 2004 with almost 100,000 miles. I was looking to buy the timing bet kit on micksgarage.ie but it gives two belt kits for my car when I put my registration in, they seem identical axcept that one is for 70bhp and the other is for 75bhp. I don't know which one my car is though, is there a way to find out?
    Thanks, Chris.

It should be on your NCT docs or the VLC for the car.

Are you fitting the belt yourself?

If not then it can open up a world of hassle if something went wrong after fitting, micks garage will blame the person who fitted it, the mechanic can blame the parts as he didn't supply them etc etc.

On something as important as a timing belt, it makes much more sense to have it supplied and fitted by a reputable garage, that way, any issues that could arise can be instantly addressed with minimal hassle to you.

No no I definately wouldn't be changing it myself, I just thought it would save me some money to buy it myself.
1.25 Zetec-S/Duratec DOHC EFI(75PS) is what comes up when I put my VIN into that site so I'm assuming 75PS = 75BHP?

    Yeah 75 PS = 75 BHP

Was there ever 2 different outputs? Every spec level of 1.25 engine listed on Parkers is 73bhp. I'd assume one belt manufacturer lists it as 75 and the other 70 but both are the same kit.

Ok thanks very much for the replies. I have no idea how much it would cost so I'll have to ring a few places and see whether I would be saving money by getting the kit myself. The car is also due it's NCT in january so thats more money I have to fork out.

€350 should be your target price IMO, that should be timing belt kit and water pump supply and fit.
