Was looking at sc2ranks.com and noticed that the No.1 Bronze in Europe is at 1142 points. I am at 358 points (34 wins) and mainly playing Silver players at the moment. (4th in my division,only a win from top spot though)

Doesn't seem to make sense, with so many points should he not get promoted. I know points do not get you promoted and I realise that his win rate may not be over 50/50 but having 3 times my points at this point in the season seems an indicator of ability/play level.

As far as I know your points will be constantly rising due to the bonus pool. His high amount of points just proves he's been in the bronze league for a long time. I'm fairly sure you get given a new amount of points when you get promoted/demoted so your points won't be relevant to his.

I assumed that points were reset at season start. (Mine certainly were, hence the 358 total) Now unless that player is playing 4 times as much as me and still losing 50%...

so i think i played 1 game since november in 1v1 due to WCG and so I got to play my signel placement.

I randomed as usual and got the best MU ever (PvP). Lost a 35 mins long game against a platinum player (that was my league since, well, season 1) and got into gold o.O

Trying to get out of it now

I think points are reset both when the season changes and when you are promoted/demoted. I am not 100% sure of this however

they are reset at season start for sure. As for when you get promoted I am not sure, but hopefully I can tell you very soon (I think they aren't though, because when you are promoted in team game I dont remember starting from 0 again)

I remember my points just dramatically changing when I got promoted. The more I think about, the more it seems like I'm talking out of my arse. I'll have to get promoted to prove it, no biggie

Yeah iirc your points get modified when you get promoted or demoted. 1000 diamond =/= 1000 master for expample

im probably gona get back into diamond this week or next, playing diamonds just about all the time now but I keep making stupid mistakes in games and playing when I know im not playing well so going on massive losing streaks

it feels like platinum now is kinda where low-mid diamond was when i was playing actively. in the time I took off, everyone else improved and I just got worse pretty damned annoying

Really happy with my play today - 10 games played, 8 Wins/2 Losses in Platinum. Played a lot of Diamonds today so I think I might get promoted soon:



Even playing on my wooden PC's Pentium 4 :P

Played my placements with my bronze buddy (he doesn't really play 1v1 though) and we just joked around with the idea of doing badly so we could just have some fun in the lower leagues. We won 4/5 games and got placed in plat! One game we worker rushed, the others we went monobattles. Immortal/hellion ain't too shabby it turns out although its awful versus banshees. The only game we lost was an unsuccessful worker rush

Must say thanks to the various posters who offered advice to low level bronze/silver players. It has definitely helped my play, I started with Khaz's 3 Rax stim push build and have done well with it and a few variations. (ie. 10 min 16 +1/+1 marine drop v Zerg)

Have been top 3 in my Bronze division over the last 4-5 days. Can't seem to get a decent win streak in but over 50% of my matches are against Silver players, I get the odd Gold too. My MMR has to be on the cusp but just trying to get a 5-8 win streak together to grasp that promotion.

25 games over the last 2 days,(17 v Silver) 15/10 in my favour. (5 of the losses were v Bronze players!)

`just got promoted back into diamond on the last night before it locks

it didnt take many points from me though, i was around 600 points in plat and i'm 400 or so in my diamond division

I was hoping to get out of bronze after my first season, but judging by Blizzard's post stating that 1200 points are needed for automatic promotion from bronze I guess that's me screwed
