Anyone else ever told to piss on a cut/abrasion? I remember when i was about 10/11yrs old (early 80's) helping an old farmer who was a neighbour of mine. I cut my hand between my inder finger and thumb and it was bleeding pretty bad. He told me to piss on it as it will help to heal it and me being 10/11 and him being probably 50 or 60 years older and wiser, i decided to try it. It stung like hell but stopped bleeding. He told me to do it regularly and not wash my hand afterwards. I think i might of pissed on it once or twice more after that and it healed up perfectly without any scar.

I wouldn't recommend pissing on every gash to seal them.

Was he confusing it with a jellyfish sting? Or else he just had a píss fetish.

It's the urea, but you'd be better off using an animals piss.

Happened to me once on a beach trip, but a lot of things happened on that trip that we should never, ever talk about

I'd usually just suck the cut , something to do with the enzymes in your siliva , sure thats what dogs do to their cuts .
You'd think the piss would increase the amount of bacteria in the long run

AH answer * it was his clever excuse to see your lad OP

very mixed up there. urine is sterile in healthy people, saliva contains millions of bacteria.

Urine is sterile, so pissing on it is like cleaning out the cut with saline i suppose. Can't see it being of any anti-bactereal use though.

    It was good advice.
Urine is sterile and will clean out the wound.
When I was boxing and my knuckles split I was told to bath my hands in urine after to help them heal.
Heavy weight champion Vladimer Kilitchko did the same thing after training, wrapping his hands in his sons urine soaked nappies. He reckoned the baby urine was totally sterile and pure.
The other thing you can do is to harden your knuckles in petrol. Travellers that were bare knuckle boxers used to do this before they started using bandages on their knuckles.

We were told if you got stung by a 'jelly blubber' (jellyfish) that you should pee on it. :D

So as a child an old man took you out on his farm and told you to piss on yourself?

    Stranger Danger! STRANGER DANGER!!!!!

Which is odd, because Lysozyme (contained in Saliva) is anti-bacterial.

    AH: Blast it with Piss.

But the urine contains loads of nutrients for the bacteria to develop as I said when I mentioned the long run ,

Hydrochloric acid is sterile too. Uric acid is not your friend.

    Quite the opposite.

    Don't piss on any wounds.

It is and it isn't its sterile when it comes out of the bladder but it can pick up things on the way. Such as a urinary tract infection and smeg in your foreskin.

But it is acidic so yes it could be used as a minor disinfectant if really stuck, but the owl dettol is better.

If it was a good disinfectant typhoid dysentery and other sewerage borne deseaces would not exist.

If it's a small cut, toothpaste does the trick, too. Some stinging in the end, but the flouride dries out the wound, so I heard.

If he reckons it, then that is just total science. Piss away folks. Hell, store some up HSE for operating theatres.

The first 1-2 seconds coming will not be sterile, after that it should be ok.
