tdi 130/115 or 320d?

    hi lads,
    am in the market for a new car and wanted a few opinions,was thinking either 130/115pd golf/bora or a 00/01 shape 136bhp 320d which do ye think id be the better car? and why? any experience with thesecars? what goes on them? are parts expensive? insurance rating?

    If you can get your hands on a clean pre facelift E46 320d I would go for that, they are pretty reliable and will be a lot better to drive than a MK4 Golf.

    Try to aim for SE spec with some extras if possible like multi function steering wheel etc.

    In saying that the MK4 is pretty reliable but they are fetching big money for what they are even with big mileage on them.

    Most 2000/2001 320d's are going to have serious mileage on them by now which could mean expensive repairs and generally tatty cars, does your annual mileage require a diesel?

    there is a lot of differance between a 115 and 130 tdi golf/bora. the 130 will be a 6speed. some 115 are six speed but not all. also the 130s lowest spec was comfortline where as the 115 could come in baseline.

    it would be hard to compare a mk4 golf to a 3series. it would be more in the passat segment than a rival for the golf i would think??

    anyone ever have flywheel/turbo or any other major probs with a 136bhp 320d?
