Toss up between these two...bad selection out there at the minute.

GPU in yours is not much better than integrated Intel, it'll let you down if you start using those programs in an advanced way.

So you think the RAM is ok On that one or is it too little and does the processor have turbo boost

No Turbo on that CPU, recommended RAM requirements is 4GB (or higher).

    GPU requirement for AMD is
    AMD/ATI

Requires an OpenCL-enabled GPU and Catalyst driver 11.7 or later with a Radeon HD 57xx or higher GPU. If using a FirePro GPU, FirePro unified driver 8.85 or later is required.

GPU in yours is given the name 6370 BUT, it's just a rebadged 5470. It's AMDs way of releasing "new" chips and deceiving people with higher numbers.

I know my two are over budget, if you weren't in a hurry to buy, you could give it a week or so, their are new models out literally every couple of days.

Spec/price was better a few wks ago, xmas is definitely having an effect.

    There's a thread here about the Z570:

    There's very little difference between the G570 and Z570 (Intel’s Core i3 2310m vs Intel’s Core i3 2310e). I believe the Z570 is newer.

The Z570 in PC World has an NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 1GB graphics card which can be enabled/disabled automatically to save power, depending on what program or application you are running. It's a decent laptop.

In that other thread, padraig91 also lists a comparible Dell for 550euro.

I looked at one last night, I think the UK spec model has a blu-ray drive instead of DVD burner.

I also asked about a cash deal and if it would be in the sales and was told 'no' to the deal (buying other stuff too), and that the staff don't expect any great reductions in the christmas sales. No apple stuff at all and some just modest reductions on some tv's and some laptops.

I think the site should have reductions listed on christmas eve for the Stephens day sale. Might be worth a gander at their site to see how they shape up.

It might be worth waiting till the stephens day sale, in case they add a price reduction to that model.

You could also PM Declan in the Currys & PC World forum and ask him that question. A PM would be better than a post - he will also be able to tell you what sort of dvd burner or bluray is there.

It just says Integrated in the link....

Does anyone know how you get into the configurator from the Dell site?
Just so u know cad only needs around a 2ghz core 2 duo and 2 gb of ram and considering all new chips are way more powerful then a core two duo, u dont really need the dedicated graphics card about 5gb of that ram will go unused
This is the minimum requirements, it all depends what your're doing, you could have the best desktop i7 and 32GB RAM and still use it all.

Yea, their going up in the Currys Forum on Xmas eve, they weren't great last year, I wouldn't expect much this year either. End of line stuff to be cleared out for 2012 Models.

    Still cheaper up the North.
