So, who's been out on the ranges lately? I'm only starting out (still a recruit) but my best so far has been 5 rounds within 35mm from 100m. Whats the best some of you here have gotten?

I managed to catch someones ricochet with my helmet once and they fired from 300!

Wow! I thought I had it bad - someone put a round into the ground beside my head (prone position.... I owe it my life)

Once started a blaze in the scrub of the sandbank behind the butts with a GPMG from 300.

Bear Grylls has got nothing on me.

    Supported? Prone? Off-hand?
1.3 Inches offhand would be excellent

I'm a civilian and can do about 1/2 inch at 100 yards with my match rifle and handloads, but that's firing from a sandbag. My unsupported kneeling/off-hand standing is terrible, but then again I don't have a bullpup rifle, my prefered one is too muzzle heavy

My mate shot the target off the range, was amazing looking. Come too think of it it was combination of a loose target and wind, it looked like the target dived for cover!

I shot several bullets through the same hole. No BS because I still have the target. OK it was on the mini range with the .22 sleeved down MkIII SMLE. But it was single shot. Damm I'm good!;)

I also shot the heads off grass with a .22.

Best bit wasn't me. I had the snap target and the guy fired low, hit the stick, broke it in half and nearly broke my wrist with the reaction. About four inches from my hand. Hilarious.

On the other hand, scared the bejasus out of some recruits in the butts. Firing a Bren, sights set low, it hit the ground just above them, plus the idiot beside me was firing at the wrong target, mine and low too. They were pissing themelves. Tears were shed, I'm told:D

Above are the MANY reasons why helmets and flakkers SHOULD be worn by all at the range......

I know, but it's how we were instructed. I'm far more consistent now that we do mag unsupported. Love range days, good banter.
