Car Tax Question

    Hia All,

Ok, having read some of the posts on here about car tax, high horse brigade stay on fences! Up until 4 yeas ago, I had my own company and was doing great, employed 25 people, the works, have always paid car tax etc.

I got ill, had some awful business partners and lost pretty much everything, heart/blood/arthritis/kidneys. Am ok now, but am on disability pension [there but for the grace of god!]

I got caught with no tax, simply cld not afford it. Car is always NCT/Insured, but tax is one I leave until I can afford, simply as I deem the other 2 so much more important. Now I usually [before you pounce on me] have tax, just was a lean few months as had to buy another car etc. Managing on disability contrary to what you may think is BLOODY hard! My question is, having got summons in post today, can I plead via post or do I have to go to court? the offence was 4 hours away from where I live, so even the amount of petrol to get to court is an issue. Oh and before anyone slags me off, try and go from a 6 figure income to SW and see how you manage.

    Any advice or help appreciated!

    Cheers - CS
