The trailer for Wrath of the Titans is up now.

I knew that they were making a sequel to Clash of the Titans but I didn't realise it was out so soon. March 2012. I didn't like the first one but the trailer makes this one look superior.

They would be doing well if they can open the film in a way that matches the opening of God of War 3.

some really crappy cgi in that, least they gave Perseus a haircut that doesnt look ridiculously out of place, that buzzcut in the previous movie was stupid.

can someone just make a God of War movie already? done on the right scale and true to the source material it'd be massive.

I was actually quite impressed by the CGI.

the cities and landscapes look great, that giant/cyclops not so much though, I'm a sucker for these kind of movies so will go to it anyway, looks grittier than the first which was kinda dull looking.

I didn't expect the first one to be so enjoyable - I was a huge fan of the old Clash of the Titans, but the new one was very watchable IMHO. Delighted they got the Mechanical Owl in too, that was one of my favourite parts of the original as a kid. I'd echo the positive CGI comments on here, it didn't feel nearly as fake as most of the CGI disasters out there.

the Kraken was damn impressive alright, especially its roar, great sound effect. Medusa was a bit hit and miss, I guess a lot of the problems with cgi in these types of movies is they have a definitive release date and are working against it.

does Perseus suplex a guy in that trailer? awesome :pac:

anyone who's played the God Of War games will know the kind of scale they have, especially stuff like this:

I believe Perseus fights Cronus in this one. I recall reading a producer boasting that Cronus is 5 times bigger than the Kraken. Now where on earth could they have gotten that idea from...
Sad part is if a GoW film does ever get made people will think it was ripping off this.

Have to admit even though the last film was a bit of a damp squib and it's a complete rip off of GoW3, I still got that tingly excited feeling when I saw the trailer in the cinema yesterday.

One thing I'll say about the first, some of the effects were excellent (ignoring the brutally tacked on 3D). The Kraken in particular was well done imo. This looks like it has more of a similar quality.

Hmm, was that Colin Farrell I spotted around the 1:02 / 1:03 mark? Looks like it'll be more of the same: a story of waffle, punctuated by generally strong SFX & set-pieces. Can't say it won't deliver on that front.

Could do without the 3D though: particularly as the first film's treatment was met with general contempt & criticism. I presume there's no indication the sequel was actually filmed in 3D?

PONc screened a great trailer for this last night.

More dragging me to see like GHOST RIDER.

    :(:)

Nothing can beat those skeletons fighting
    them Argonauts though IMHO.

This looks a bit better than the 1st that i thought was really over too fast, Will be checking it out

The problem with God Of War is what actor out there now has the on screen presence to pull of Kratos ?

That's odd. Kronus was chopped up into tiny pieces and scattered in Tartarus by Zeus.

Surely that would already have happened?

As a pedantic nerd I can no longer take the integrity and veracity of this film seriously.

Seen the trailer for this in the cinema quite a bit now. Looks a lot better than the first one but I'm not really drawn to it. The Cineworld Unlimited card is the only reason I'll probably give this a shot. :pac:

Sam Worthington in fine shouty form it seems. :pac:

    Djimon Honsou could be Kratos

I could see Tom Hardy as Kratos.

Does anyone know if this was filmed in 3D or is it converted in post production?

Either way I will try and see it in 2D but if the times of the 2D showings of John Carter are indication then it will be hard to get to.

Pretty sure it's post-production 3D: certainly the first film was, and I don't believe that has changed ...

Ugh... saw this today. One of the worst I've seen in a long time, and I've seen some tripe.
The story was convoluted and choppy and some stuff was just too convenient. The 3D was nauseating and there wasn't enough action.

Yeah, it was garbage. Some of the dialogue made me cringe. Only good thing about it was impressive effects (saw the 2D version) - they really were good, but the acting, story etc sucked Kraken balls.

got round to seeing this last week but havent been able to post thanks to work being mental.

i was gonna be a bit generous but yeah its crap.

not tragically bad, but thank to a run time that goes way over what it shouldve been (i'dve capped it at 90min) it justs goes on too long in places and gets boring.

it does look amazing dont get me wrong and theres some nice stuff on the gods and their relationships, particularly with zeus and hades, but it just drags in places.

the labyrinth for instance looks great but you just wish it got on with things. which brings me to another issue.

    3D syndrome.

i went to see this in 2d and its grand, but half the time i couldnt help but notice the superfluous crap being thrown at the screeen purely for what i knew was to satisify 3D . it does nothing at all for the 2d version except make you realise what a gimick it is. if half the 3d crap was cut out the film would probably run better.

dont get me wrong , i like mythological films and i didnt feel ripped off by this. its just i couldnt recomend it to anyone NOT into that genre too and have to admit its just "OK". in many respects it a retread of the first on on the action front.

chronos does look bloody good though.

    5/10 for me.

for anyone not into the genre 4/10

It was...ok, not godawful but not great. some of the visuals were very cool, especially the labyrinth and pit of Tartarus. and Kronos looked brilliant. It did seem very choppily edited though, theres a scene where it cuts from an action beat to Zeus and Hades talking and the action music is still carrying on, doesnt fade out until 30 seconds or so into their conversation so it felt odd, like a chunk of something was just cut and the music didnt fit.
