    Hi all,

Parents in law got a new pc (think its a no name brand called uni tech, I never heard of them before) They got it from work through a dela or something.

it has 6 usb ports 4 in the back and 2 in the front.
The back 4 work fine and the front 2 dont seem to work. The bios sees all 6 usb ports as enabled and it specifically mentions that the front 2 are usb ports 1 and 2 and the back 4 are 3-6

Device maanger shows everything working properly although I cant tell if device manager is picking up the USB as the naming convention isnt great.

Tried multiple devices in the two front ports and nothing works

    anyone any ideas?

Even though it is been seen in BIOS.. The first thing to check is that the USB ports are connected properly inside the PC.. Can you do this yourself.. or do you have any comeback with the company to take a look at it for you?

Yeah front USB ports are just connected to the motherboard with a header coming from the case. The actual USB "port" is on the motherboard so this will be seen in the device manager even if the front ports aren't properly connected.

Just open the side of the case and find the wires coming from the front. There will be a bunch of single wires for power switches etc and a a thicker wire with a header on the end for the USB. This needs to go on the USB header on the motherboard which is usually labelled as such and located along the edge of the board.

It could be a driver issue, see if you can get the motherboard drivers for your chipset and USB.

So I opened it up and the USB's are connected to the motherboard, I reseatted the cable just to be sure, Also There was an e-sata port that was not plugged in I plugged that in and powered up and it found new hardware and installed the e-sata port. so I dont think its a card issue
I unplugged all the USB devices and device manager now only shows 4 USB slots so It looks like Device manager doesnt see them!
