    With all the advances in technology why don't they make a USB that fits both ways??

    What do you mean 'fits both ways'? If you mean a cable that connects 2 pc's together then afaik they have

    No, I think that the OP is referring to the orientation of the connector.


    Probably, because such a connector would be more expensive.
    Probably, because such a connector would be more complex.
    Probably because, simplicity = reliability.
    Probably because it was designed by committee..

    Or a completely different reason...

    Yes I was referring to orientation of the connector, The way it only allows connection one side up/down only, Just seems to be very dated considering where technology is as it's still one of the most used means of connecting computer peripherals.
