Race Calendar

Is there any one online source where you can go to and it will have a complete race calendar?

It just seems crazy that you have to go to multiple sources to try and piece together what races are coming up.

It's not just a case of races directors not having publicised their race yet either. I've tried four different sources, the thread on Boards, AAI, RunIreland and Runningcalendar.eu and there are different races on each of them.

It would be great if there was a one stop location for this.

If I remember rightly Donothoponpop promised he'd do one last year. :pac:

Only got this far though - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ahu0FIduS8TEdHIyZXJKdmc3VnBDWnJldGt6NTNuQXc&hl=en_US#gid=0

Google docs would be a handy place to do it, anyone can customise and add a new race they hear of and leave the link on a thread at the top of the events forum.

This is the one I started last year. It got updated (and each passing month deleted), and is still going. No reason why Boards shouldn't have the most comprehensive race calendar- all it takes is a bit of effort from whoever wants to add to it. The biggest difficulty is keeping on top of race date changes, but otherwise it worked well I thought. Separate Tri and AR calendar's too, and I see Oisin's Irish marathon calendar is now featured. Many hands make light work.

This list is good as a starting point, but only races that have their own thread on here are included on it. Just look at the thread and RunIreland for the 26th of December and you'll find a number of races that aren't on both lists.

If we change it so that any race can be added, with or without a corresponding thread then we could make it the most comprehensive race list around.

There were plenty of races listed on it with no dedicated thread during 2011 (IMRA and BHAA come to mind). Certainly though, anyone who is updating would be interested in including a race they might also start a thread about.

I'll include the imra calendar on it over the next couple of days. Lets make it a new years resolution to make it the most comprehensive calendar around :)

Only because last time I updated the thread I checked boards for upcoming races, and not RunIreland :)

Hey Ray, not trying to get at you at all for the thread not being the be all and end all of race calendars, think we all need to step up and keep it updated and people should be encouraged to do so, you've enough to be doing as a Mod.

Maybe this is something we can try and aim for 2012, I've no problem trying to piece one together from all the different sites, we then need everyone to add races as they see them popping up.

A unified calendar is something I'd love to see.

    I'm aware of the following:
    Running - RunIreland
    Running - BHAA
    Mountain Running - IMRA
    Triathlon - Triathlon Ireland

Is there any central calendar of Multisport/Adventure races?

    http://www.msai.ie/adventure-race-ireland-calendar.php ..

..was good for 2011 AR events but looking at it there now it's completely unpopulated for 2012. Presumably he'll get to it as the 2011 one was pretty good.

The IMRA website only really covers their own races plus a few international events
    http://www.nimra.org.uk/index.htm covers northern Irish hillrunning.

I started a new thread for 2012 in Events. Included what was there on the old one for 2012, but quite a few of these dates were wrong (I corrected a couple). First 6 months of the IMRA year included.

Feel free to add anything that you would like to see. It'll only be as comprehensive as people make it be. If everyone adds a bit, it could become the most comprehensive race calendar around.

I've added some to that list from a few different sources for January and February, if I get some time later I'll do a bit more.

Full IMRA Calendar is in there now, and the first couple of months from TRI calendar. Any BHAA lads want to enter that one? Anyone want to enter the AAI fixtures?
