Any bargain laptops in pre-Xmas sales?

Hi. I'm looking for a laptop for a teenager who says they need it for their Leaving Cert, but I suspect is likely to spend more time on it using social messaging and goofing off.

Budget is as cheap as poss (recession, doncha know), definitely under 500 euro and preferably under 400, but relatively light and portable for young teen shoulders to bear. Keen to discourage excessive gaming, so low graphics spec and medium processor are perfectly fine. Proper laptop, though. Ebooks are out.

If I have to, I'm prepared to order online or even buy up North, as I'll likely be up there anyway over the holidays. But it would be nice to pick one up before the big day, and that means finding one in Dublin (or thereabouts).

Has anyone any suggestions? Any daycent bargains out there?

It's a bit late to order online for Christmas at this stage and it seems all the good deals on laptops are all finished with now anyway.

This Lenovo is a good laptop suiting your needs perfectly and will last a good few years.
Not sure of stock levels in the different PC World shops so maybe ring the store before you travel to it or there is a thread about the stock levels of the Lenovo somewhere in the Currys & PC World section where Declan the rep should be able to help you out.

It's a tab expensive at €479, I would try bargin them down to below €450 or even more since the same laptop was selling at €409 at pixmania a few weeks ago, but it's probably the best deal you will get in-store in Ireland.
