'Small' bike for an adult?

Hi,

I'm looking for a 'small' bike for an adult, I don't need it to be a folding bike though and in fact I'd rather it wasn't as I feel it would be more awkward. When I look on websites however I can only find bikes of the desired size in the folding bike section. eg. the 'Oyama East Village 16" Folding Bike' is exatly the type of size I am looking for. Do any manufacturers make bikes of this size that don't fold ? If so is there a particular name for this category of bike, where should I be looking on a website or what should I search for on Google? Or is there a bike shop that sells them?

In that case the 16" probably applies to the wheel size, not the frame size.

Mountain bike frames are usually sized in inches, road bikes in cm, although either may be sized as XS/S/M/L/XL.

Most manufacturers have size charts based on rider height which will get you in the ballpark. A road bike is a bit more sensitive to sizing but can be tweaked with adjustments to stem length and saddle fore/aft.
