    hi all,
am looking at getting a few nice jobs done in 2012 and imtrying to get organised for them.

we would like to get the house painter internally and before i go ringing looking for quotes i am wondering what info will i need on hand.

should i ask for a labour only price and a labour and materials.

our house is not the typical 2 storey semi d so just want a few pointers to what i will be asked for.

    cheers

Why dont you have a bash at doing it yourself, thats what we did with our entire house and it turned out great.

first of all i didnt mean its not typical in a knobby snotty kind of way.
apologies if thats the way it read.

if my wife was in to painting i would have issue in roping her in but if i took on the job myself it would inevitably get put off or it would be fired up over a weekend and look ****e.

just google "painter and decorator dublin" if u are from dublin, and just send few emails asking for quotes. most of painters will include all materials in their price. if u would like brands of paint like farrow and ball or colourtrend make sure u mention that in ur email as those paints are much more expensive. make sure u explain what need to be painted like: ceilings walls doors skirtings etc. some painters will send u ball park figure via email some of them will want to take a look at the job to make quote more aqurate.
good luck and remember cheapest its not always the best!!!!!

My girlfriend isnt a painter, but she did a brilliant job on painting our entire house from the ground up.:)

Its amazing how fast a room can be painted, once you get into it and get painting. Its also down to the paint brand and quality too.Avoid the cheap paints,as they are not good at coverage and also streak too.

Im only giving an alternative option, thats all.
Money is tight for most of the people in country these days (Thanks to Mr Noonan and Mr Kenny....AKA Blatant Liars and Traitors),so hense me saying do it yourself.;)

Bought the paint at "trade" price from a paint suppliers/wholesalers.
And no problem for my girlfriend working from a 10 and 12 foot A-Frame ladder in the house and painting away. She loves it in fact.Lovely finish to each room and alot of money saved too, plus the fact of great satisfaction in doing it yourself.:)

But thats just my/our opinion and way of thinking and doing things.

Other people may prefer to get a painter in to do it for them, and not have to worry about getting messy or having to touch a drum of paint or a roller.

    Regards.:)

Looks like she did a really nice job Id nearly offer her a job if she wanted, but do remember we do have the most important thing insurance to cover and a guarantee also trade discount differs as to how much paint you buy so I still think I could supply the materials a lot cheaper also not everyone has perfect walls/timber to work with or a steady hand or eye for colour for that matter

    OMG,I sure am.:):D

She is a fully qualified (BSC) professional horticulturalist and garden designer. She gets stuck in and gets the job and work done, with no dilly dallying about or messing around.

She also likes working around the home, changing around the various room layouts and chosing paint and painting the rooms too.Its one of her many and varied interests, outside of her work.Thats what she likes to do,so I dont get in her way.:)
