Do they leave a note or send it straight back? Im afraid i might have missed a courier on friday but there was no note or anything.

Most will leave a slip to say missed delivery, will try again at such a time or contact details to arrange future delivery. Check with neighbours too

I recently had a delivery via DPD and they left no notice of attempted delivery. It wasnt untill I got the tracking number for the item I found out there was an attempted delivery and the item was being held in a depot.

The same has previously happened me with GLS, never had the problem with anpost, fedex ups ect though who always left a docket or would call to deliver elsewhere ect.

It depends on the courier company and in my experience in some cases on the different drivers.

Some leave an note and you need to contact them and re-arrange delivery.

Some will leave it in the nearest shop, pub, business etc.

Some will leave it with the nearest neightbour.

Some will hide it in the garden, throw it over the back gete etc.

Some will hand it into the next house that they are doing a deliever in (if it is in the same area as you) and leave you a note telling you where it is. I had great fun picking up a package that arrived tow days early from the local oddball thanks to a next delievery driver!

It would be best to edit your delivery address to include a mobile phone number -
Most of them would ring this number , if no-one at home

Got home today to find a note in the letterbox to say the parcell was beside the wheelie bin at the side of the house. Won't name the courier company but if I'm allowed I will.

In saying that the parcell was only for 20 euro but it was a present for the little one for christmas. Never had that happen before strange.

If you aren't in when they deliver, do you have to pick it up at the depot or can you arrange for redelivery?

It depends on the courier company I think.

You could phone the drive/company and ask about re-arranging delivery or they ask you to pick it up at X, Y, X place. I'd say most would be happy to redeliver though.

Purchased several items from amazon recently got all but one item which for some reason they decided to send seprately via dhl, great I thought especially as not paying extra - amazon said would be delivered tuesday. Contacted amazon requesting a tracking number and was told that was not available.I am extremely frustrated at this point as it looks increasingly unlikely that I will get before the weeks over. What do i do?

    What do i do?

Just wait. DHL are very slow. I ordered a memory card from Amazon UK, but they sent it from amazon.de hence DHL have to handle it. They take about 10 working days to get from Germany to here somehow. I think they walk over.

I would not mind so much if I could track it (I'm sure all dhl shipments are trackable I'm convinced amazon just are not willing to retrieve the info for me)

It gets better its one of their staple items a book

If it was amazon.de who sent via Dhl then it will be delivered by anpost and not the regular "dhl" delivery vans. I get a fair ammount of equiptment from Dhl via anpost and it alot of the cases it can be faster than Dhl express.

Either ways if you dont have it in the morning I dont think theres another anpost delivery untill next wed or thursday

If you won't get your package in expected time-frame call the company.

    My experiences with fedex.
    1. Last summer. Sender didn't put my mobile on a box. Driver couldn't find my house. Package was moved back to a local depot. I called them, located the package, had to drive to Shannon to pick it up.
2.This morning. Package expected today, status already says delivered but no package, no note, no nothing. Called them and now waiting for them to call me back...

Package was left at neighbours. Conclusion: they attempt delivery, but if fail its up to you to find out what's wrong.

Turned up today at last thought i wouldn't see it before christmas at all. Amazon should explain on the site as i really had my hopes up as it was marked as dispatched via dhl.

    Thanks for the info.
