I was driving home last night lateish and I got stuck behind two separate taxis crawling along at about 60km in 100km zones. both with passengers.
every taxi heading back into town having dropped their passengers off were naturally flooring it to get back in for another fare.

I actually felt pissed off on behalf of the probably drunk passengers who likely had no idea what speed they were going.
has anyone ever pulled their driver up on dragging the ass out of a fare?

is there any regulation preventing it?

I thought the meters were by distance and not time? Unless that friendly taxi driver I did a runner from lied to me*.

But yeah. Cars. Driving. Slow. Bummer.

*I have never ran from a fare as I am not a scumbag. I was referencing a vid that was posted up here a while ago.

The meters run on distance and time, I use taxis all the time and some drivers take the total piss with driving slow. Simple, if you start that sh¡te, no tip for you.

I once got into a taxi and the driver had a Ku Klux-Klan robe over his head.

Why not just ask them to speed up?

And if they ask "why". It's cause you need to sh!t. REAL BAD.

Firstly, it's a speed limit, not a target. Maybe the drivers thought 60kph was a more appropriate speed for the conditions last night?
Secondly, a taxi meter runs on distance only once the vehicle is doing more than 20kph so if the driver decides to drive at 21kph from Dublin city centre to Swords, the fare will be the very same as if he'd driven at 100kph.
Thirdly, it's a common misconception that dragging a job out makes more money, BS! The way you make money in a taxi is to get the job done as quickly as possible and move on to the next job, particularly in the fortnight before christmas when there is work waiting on the streets.
This thread will descend into the usual taxi bashing exercise but if you read the above points and try see the logic behind them??

I rarely use taxi's and if I do the fare is almost always split 4 ways so I don't care bout speed when I'm in them. But they wreck my head when I'm driving. Constantly crawling along and pulling in and out while collecting or dropping off passengers without indicating. Just last night one forced me to jam on the brakes. Stopped in the middle of the road and just as I'm indicating to overtake him he flies pulls out while I'm almost level with him. Obviously not all taxi drivers are like that but it happens me enough to notice a pattern.

Try the carriage office although it might be more hygienic to just buy more sanitary towels.
