T-Mobile in the UK are already sending it out OTA. I've just put mine back to stock to wait for an update here.

Just bit the bullet and did the manual upgrade.

Quick housekeeping for reference, I have a I9023 upgrading from 2.3.6 to 4.0.3 running on Vodafone Ire.

After the install and first boot, it appears that android was doing a lot of messing around behind the scenes with migration of apps etc. This resulted in a lot of '"xxx" has closed' reports and the phone was extremely sluggish.

A lot of apps required an update in the marketplace, I assume to accomodate ICS. I decided to let it do its thing and would do a reboot.

Once that was complete and rebooted, I had a different phone on my hand. Reponse was back up to par, and everything was running smoothly. I will admit, that its not quite as quick as 2.3.6, but the difference is, in my opinion, negligible (talking millisecs here) and you shouldn't be put out by it.

Main issue I can see with it, is that it uses a way more memory. Its using on average 220 megs on my handset now whereas Gingerbread, never went over the 150 mark. I was usually using only half the availlable memory. This may come back to bite later on if using too many widgets/live wallpaper etc, but now it does seem to be affecting anything.

I won't go into detail about ICS itself, there are enough review pages around there to explain all that, but I will say.........its worth the upgrade. Nice piece of kit :D

Have you been able to get back into recovery since updating it?

Dual-Core wasn't ever a requirement for ICS, Google have said any phone capable of running Gingerbread is capable of running ICS

Cool! Was wondering as other half still has her Galaxy s and was wondering if it could take it or not...understanding that Samsung may not release a version of ICS for it at all but that's another story.

There's already a beta from the community for the Galaxy S

    Hey C-Shore,

Sorry for the delay, was out all day, and only getting to this now. I tried to get back to recovery but no it doesn't allow it.

Quick google shows this cropping up around the place. Here's a link that claims to have info to correct it (I haven't tried it)
