Related to the "Woman remembers things" thread, ive decided to go with one of my own

What is the first thing that you can remember in your life?

For me i was around 4-5 outside house garage (circa 1986 in the days before we all became obsessed with converting them to a room to rent)

I can remember being in my crib. Standing up and rocking on the rails to try and get out of it. My parents had me trapped in there.

    Was probably 10 or 11.

Watching my big brother and sister get the bus to school from the front door while I was wearing a nappy. No one believes me though.

Hint: There was a lot of blood, screaming and vagina.

    Yep, my first date.

I can remember my second birthday and getting a rattle from my sister.

I can also remember my older brother changing my nappy and being happy that I was getting a disposable one put on instead of a towling one.

1981/82. Was either trying to climb in and out of my brothers cot, or sitting on my Great Grans lap. Aged around 3 or 4 for both.

I have a vivid.memory of falling down the stairs and hitting off a Hoover and there being lots of blood.
Asked my parents about it and they said I was only 2 when it happened.
    Weird.

Being sick one day and not having to go to school and playing with my mother all day... I obviously wasn't that sick.

    I was maybe...5?

I remember sitting outside in the sun in about 1978 in a flared lapel paisley shirt, flared dungarees, with red boots with furry insides. Drinking an ice cream sundae. I was 4 and that was AWESOME.

    3. Standing up in a pram that rolled back causing me to lose my balance and fall forward striking my forehead on an iron gate. Cue blood and tears. Still have a wee scar on my brow.

4/5. Adopted as a mascot by council workers painting the fences with creosote - had my own little brush and packed lunch and everything. The smell of creosote takes me back to that time.

4/5. First day in school making my name with magnetic letters helped by my Mum.

5/6. Standing on a shed roof covered in fresh snow watching my Dad walking towards the house coming home from work.

6/7. Learning how to cycle on a rain soaked car park at the back of the house. A real feeling of joy that was.

Remember sitting in a high chair, watching Wanderly Wagon and eating Heinz baby food.

Would like to think I was under 3, but seeing as my mother was still buying Liga when we were teenagers,:o,I can't honestly be sure.

Falling from a 5 foot wall aged 4 after going to the circus, imitating high wire guy.

Getting hit full belt in the face by a basketball thrown from a friend aged 5.

TBH, I can't remember much and the bits I do, I'm not sure what order they occurred in.

I recall playing with a hatchet and the floor once.
I remember we had a dog that was fond of blasting the hall with piss.
Walking from Clondalkin to Bluebell along the Naas Rd because we couldn't afford to pay busfare, then collecting sticks for firewood on the way home because we didn't have much coal.

These might have occured sometime between the ages of 3 and now. I can't really say for sure.

My sister coming home from hospital when I was 2 years 3 months. I think cause they brought her in through my nannies front door, and into the sitting room, which was never used, it stuck out :D

Then straining on my tippy toes to try to see into the carry cot when my cousin came home just after my 3rd birthday.

Coming down this big wooden staircase to breakfast (porridge I think) in a huge house my mother worked in someplace in Meath (live in housekeeper)... when I told her this recollection, she said I couldn't have been much older than 2 or so when that happened. I can also remember a lake (probably just a pond but everythin's big when you're that age) in the grounds of the house and the two spaniels the owners had...very vivid memories.
Then it's all blurry until something else definite when I was 3 or more.

Have a few memories but have no idea what order their in and not sure on the exact details. Think my first memory is over in liverpool in my aunts house, It was night time i think i had only gone to bed and i remember standing up in the cot/bed and looking across the room very hazy memory but i must have been only a year and a half to 2 years according to my mam. Amazing what you remember from such a young age.

Also remember going down the main street in my pram and there was a thunderstorm. Redmond square was only being finished at the time so again mustn't have been any older than 2.

All the earliest stuff I can remember happened sometime between 3 and 5 years of age. Impossible to pin it down really.

    - Telling someone to "fnck off" and getting in lots of trouble for it. I think this is my earliest and I was about 3

    - For some reason I had a bike with no pedals. A hand-me-down I think. I used to just sit on it and run around the place pushing myself along, like a balance bike. I never had a bike with stabilisers now that I think of it. One day I was using it and left it against the wall outside my friend's house when I went home. I don't remember that, but I do remember coming back the next day to find it gone - the binmen assumed it was rubbish and took it away :( I was probably somewhere between 4 and 5.

    - The last day of playschool (before I was to go into junior infants in September). We went outside into the garden, it was a blistering hot day, ate our lunches in the grass and the "teacher" read us stories. She was a local woman who ran a creche in her house basically. I was probably just gone 4 given that I would start proper school in September.

    - Standing on the street with my best friend, proudly proclaming to someone else that "we're four!". Dunno why.

    - Hurricane Charlie (1986) for some reason sticks out. I would have been nearly 4 and a half. I can remember there being a big storm outside and the next day being told how great I was that I slept through it without a problem. The next day I went walking around the local area with my brothers looking at the devastation, it's all quite clear in my head still.

I have lots of memories where in my head, I was somewhere between 12 and 14, but when I think about the settings (grandparents' houses, etc) and work out the dates, I can't have been more than 6 or 7.

I remember standing outside my parent's friend's house and looking at the desert in the distance. There was this one dead tree or something and I remember thinking it looked like my Simba teddy.

Saudi Arabia gives children strange memories. Probably was 2 or 3.

Falling down a stairs aged about 2.

It was obviously a popular pastime (or else a manufactured collective memory), but I also remember falling down the stairs, and it apparently happened within a few months either side of my 2nd birthday. I had a blanky that I used carry around with me, and managed to trip myself up with it from the top of a long straight flight of stairs. Thankfully I bounced.

Being carried into a ward in hospital aged 2.

I was after pulling the kettle down on top of myself :o, and yes the water was hot!
Thank god I don't remember the accident itself or the pain, just a glimpse of being carried into a ward.

About 3/4 I think I was and I wandered off by myself in a restaurant while my family were on holidays in Paris with some friends.

Eventually they found me tugging at a strangers pants trying to get them down for reasons beyond my understanding.

    I was 4.
My mom brought me to playschool, but then she left
I cried my eyes out all day.

My second memory is the same age - waking up from having a nightmare about my mom bringing me to playschool and leaving.

I remember sitting on my mother's knee being given radiation treatment (!) on my face in a hospital room. I would have to have been a good bit less than 12 months, she has always denied that I could possibly have remembered it and I must be reconstructing from comments I heard.

More definite, I remember being wheeled in a rattly pushchair/buggy when I was around 2.

I'm not sure which of these memories came first...

I'm a baby lying in my cot and I'm looking up at the window next to my cot. The window is open, and it must be a windy day because I'm watching the orange and brown curtains on the window blowing in the breeze.

I remember my first birthday party and I'm sitting on my grandad's lap and my dad, grandmother, my dad, my aunt and 2 of my uncles are there, everyone's singing "happy birthday" and my mam is putting my birthday in front of me and my grandad is blowing out the candles. I think my birthday must have been around easter that year (1982) cause I remember seeing a pile of easter eggs in the corner of the room - one was a dairybox one.
