Where to get U lock?

I've lost the keys to my U lock and I had to cut it. However, its wasn't a great lock and with the new bicycle its time for an upgrade.

I was looking at various Kryptonite, Abus or On Guard Locks and I would be happy with a decent version of either.

I'd need to pick it up in Dublin though, I don't have the time to order one online. So the question is, where can I get on in a bricks and mortar shop in town?

In the city center cycleways on parnell street do kryptonite locks, around 50 euro for the evolution I think.

I got the Kryptonite Evolution in Macdonalds on Wexford street for about 60 euro if I remember correctly. Plenty of other choices available there if you want a smaller or better one.

Got a kryptonite new york fahgeddaboutit lock in Eurocycles on Sth William St. Can't remember the cost, it was heading for €100. I got a cable to go with it to give a bit more flexibility. The lock is a beast, but you need to plan where you are locking up as the it's shortness can be a problem with irregular locking locations.

Some of the heavy duty Abus locks have a bit more length, might suit better depending on where you are going to be locking the bike. Can't remember where to get these though, got one in Cycle Inn in Tallaght recently, but it's not really city centre.

Plan on spending about €100 to get something worthwhile (or get someone to get it for you for Christmas!). There are a lot of posts on the Stolen Bikes Thread who don't list what kind of lock they were using. I usually presume this means 'no lock at all' or 'cable lock'. They are both similar in their security rating.

Cyclebike just off of Capel Street are a pretty decent crowd to deal with. I know they do Kryptonite and a few other brands.

+1 for cycleways. I bought a bike there and they added a kryptonite evo in the deal. Their prices on these locks seem to be quite reasonable
