After reading the following story on Independent.ie

    http://www.independent.ie/lifestyle/independent-woman/love-sex/men-have-twice-as-many-sexual-partners-as-women-2965646.html

The Sums of the study do not add up with the NHS figures for Men to have twice as many sexual partners. There is approx equal numbers of men and women in Britain. On average they should be a similar number of Men and women who are straight and the similar number of Lesbians and gay men and similar number of genders who are bisexual with a certain degree of error.

For a straight guy to have sex with a women that 1:1 partner. Even when an man goes to another women, for a man to have sex with a women to add to his sexual partner count is 2 another man must not able to have sex which means 0. The results on average is still 1:1 on every possible senerio. So taking bi into account to have sex with opposite gender they must be equal 1 man and 1 women.

Thats leave gay/bi men having sex must be more likely have sexual encounters with each other than Lesbians/bi women are least likely have sex with each other. But the problem is there is not that many gay men out there in Britain for the sexual partners numbers to be 2:1 on average unless a lot straight men are having sex with other gay men which is unlikely. The only possibility is that British men are having sex with animals to increase the numbers of Sexual partners, but there is a problem with that assumption. The British Police have very very little arrests for British men having sex with animals. So that bogus.

I can safety conclude that the NHS results is bogus as British Women & Men must have lied they hole off on how many Sexual partners they had, So they are pretty blatant liars.

Well it balances out overall. If you take ten men and 19 women. One man sleeps with ten of the women, the rest sleep together, the average number of partners for the men is 1.9, for women it's 1. Since the primary "chasing" in relationship is done by men, it would stand to reason that some men catch way more than their fair share, and others way less, which tips the balance.

Of course, there is the 50% rule.

That is, when a man tells you how many he's slept with, the real figure is 50% of that one. When a woman tells you, the real figure is 50% more.

    I don't think so.

In most surveys I have ever seen, sexual orientation along gender-gender lines goes something like this (in descending order)
    -Straight
    -Gay (male-male)
    -Lesbian
    -Bisexual female
    -Bisexual male

There are lots of hypotheses for this.

One is that it is easier for a lesbian woman to be 'straight' (lie back and think of DeValera) than for a gay man to be straight (heterosexual sex involves him taking a much more active role than his partner, it's hard to fake an erection).

The low incidence of self reporting of bisexual men with respect to that of bisexual women can possibly be explained by the relative attractiveness of bisexual women to men; whereas if a man is attracted to both genders he is perhaps more likely to call himself straight than gay/ bisexual, and if his attraction to both genders is split evenly, may prefer to date a woman and conceal the homosexual aspect of his sexual identity.

    tl;dr
It is an unsafe assumption that the ration of gay men to lesbian women to bisexuals is 1:1:1

Well if I were gay I could just log onto a website now and say hey I want 7 guys to come to my house and f*ck me and they'd show up in no time. At least that's how I think it works. If I was gay I'd be banging different men every day. They have it so easy. I want to be gay :(

There is not 2 women for every one man in Britain even taking old age women into account when the male partner dies.
So If i take your example of ten men who got 2 women each.
The 2 for every man who had sex and 1 partner for the women, but 10 more men in Britain who did not have sex then on average that 1:1.

but the statement by independent .ie is incorrect as it says: It did not say men who have sex have twice as many partners as women who have sex.

I do believe both men and women lied about the number sexual partners.
    Daily mail wrote:
Twice as many men (27 per cent) than women boasted of having made more than 10 conquests
A third of men and 17 per cent of women said their reported number of sexual partners was an estimate

Women always tone down the number so they do not feel they feel like prostitutes or tramps, while men up the figure to feel like they are the best at mating.
They both are looking after their ego's. So both lied, what is worst is that the NHS supports this figure despite the obvious that they do not add up.
I have to say this there is no box for men or women who never had sex. This survey, I cannot believe because it is riddle with egos answers.

The only honest group is the 16-24 years old who figures seem adds up!! The reason I say this that men in the 16-24 bracket show approx 35% virgins and in the women bracket it is nearer to 25%. How many men do you know in that range of their High sexual peak period of their lives admit they never had sex when they are between 16-24!!!!
Young Women 16-24 are far more honest too than their older counterparts to admit when they are having sex since they outstrip their similar age men in having sex.

What I do not get is why the media do not interrogate this figures. Instead it seem like lazy Journalisms to print easy populist headlines.

Why do people think this? I don't know anyone who lies about the number of people they've slept with. What sort of retards are you basing this on?

As I said before I took gay men into account, there is not enough Gay men in England to have the figure 2:1. as far As I know England do not hold the tilte as the Gayest Country in the World.
The Telegraph says the Following Headline
For this figure to be some bit true there must be 20.76% of the population of women and 69.23% men in England since women in England who have on average 4 partners who are having sex with other women also and since women are not having that much sex with men and with other women. This leaves minimal of 38.46% minimal of men in England who are gay/bisexual and that assuming there are no Lesbians/bi with other women having sex.

The Figures I quoted are not true ,since I know the population of England do not have 20% of women, it is far closer to 50%. That is why I say the figures do not adds up as reported by the NHS and that Journalism in the media seems poor.
