hey all. I want to know what you would classify as the perfects night sleep? I mostly mean in regards to how long you sleep for.
During the weekday I get 7 hours and 30 minutes sleep on average every night. However I still wake up feeling horrible. You know that feeling of having to drag yourself out of bed, we all hate it and its possibly the worst thing about sleeping in my opinion. Keeps me feeling good for most of the day though.

Then on the other hand, when on holidays and out of college/weekend I will sleep anywhere from 8 hours - 14 hours, and that also leaves me feeling horrible. I wake up feeling alright and its not hard for me to get out of the bed but it leaves me absolutely wrecked for the whole day, constantly yawning and wanting more sleep. It also just leaves me feeling pretty filthy in general.

Is there anywhere in between that is just right? I would love to be able to wake up without a negative effect, or is this just something that we all have to deal with regardless of what way we sleep.

I have tried many differerent methods of waking myself, and generally find setting about 5 or 10 alarms at shortening intervals of 30 mins, 15, 10, and then every 5 afterwards helps me a great deal. Its a lot better than waking up and hopping out of the bed in 30 seconds :p.

What about you guys, do you have any techniques etc that you like to follow that makes your night much more enjoyable?

I aim to get the full 8 hours weeknights and weekends i wouldnt sleep over 9 hours as is feel like crap the rest of the day.

You sound like you could seriously benefit from http://www.wakeup.philips.com/

They gradually brighten in the mornings to gave you a more natural wakeup i think they work well for some people with getting up issues .

Also i read before going to sleep it helps clear out any stressful thoughts etc before you try to sleep.

well actually the length of sleep that the body requires depends on age. The younger the person the more sleep is required for growth and grand parents don't really need to sleep that long.

the best sign for a good night's sleep is if you never feel lack of energy during the day and at the same time don't have memory problems or difficulties in concentrating meaning no brain function impairment
