Hi I was just looking to get a few opinions on my situation. I've handed in my notice and will finish up after I do a couple of days in the first week back after Christmas. I've a few days holidays not taken as well.

I was paid for the couple of days (2 actually) in Jan and my outstanding holidays in this months pay packets (December). I was also given my P45 and it is dated 31/12, even though I'll still be working after this date.

My problem is that if I was paid normally this month, then next month I was paid for the 2 days and my outstanding holidays I will get more money into my pocket. Whereas lumping them all together means I get about 250 less due to it all being taxed. I believe it's actually correct to do it this way. I'm not fully happy having my P45 dated before I actually finish either.

I was just wondering is the way I've been paid now, everything all together and before I've actually done the work, correct? Also what do people think of getting my P45 dated before I actually finish?

I personally wouldn't work past my P45 date. Ask them to change it.

I won't see the relevant person until Monday about it.

I'm not sure why she dated it 31/12 though as she knew I would be working in January!

Are you leaving for a new job ?
If so it will all come out in the wash (tax wise)

If not the you need to get them to change it as you might not use all your tax credits next year.

The reason why she did it is that she will not have to do a P60 for you if your finish date is 31/12.

Nope not for a new job. I plan to go travelling so to the best of my knowledge being paid this year for work I will do next year will cost me money.

    Thanks for your reply.

The accountant said the forms were sent to the tax office so she couldn't do anything about it. I personally think this is bull though but not sure what to do. I need a reference from the company so can't do anything too drastic.

This a very unpleasant experience altogether.
