I am hoping to put a hunting / long range / tactical scope on my .300 win mag. Id love to get nightforce or s&b but they are a bit out of my price range.
any ideas on other good makes (around €1000) that will cope with the whack off the .300 winny and retain zero...
Was thinking of Leupold VX-R range...

These could be worth considering; Hungarian made S&B, Zeiss Conquest series, high end Bushnell Elite, high end Nikon...the list is quite endless if you root around long and deep enough.

Had a look at a few Sightron scopes over the last 6 months. Good glass, robust, high mag capability, 30mm tube, 1/8" click value.

I only mention it because there is one for sale here in your budget.

Details about the scope are here.

IOR is another one to consider. I have the 6-24x50 and find it very good. Glass is very clear and the mp8 recticle is nice to use. Sniper central did a very indept review of I think 3 of them and it's well worth the read.

For 1000€ a new IOR or Kaps tactical, i my opinion definitely the best choice.

IOR 6-24x50 or my favorite 3-18x42 FFP are both in cca. 1000€ range. Kaps tactical 2.5-10x50 is also a great choice, specially if you hunt a lot.

Second hand you can get NF but then again you get S&B or Kahles K series second hand also for this money.
