Bounce for Parkland!

Hi, I play most of my golf on parkland courses and am looking at getting a 50 degree gap and 58 lob wedge. I understand that mid to high bounce is recommended for parkland courses, but can anyone advise on the various permutations or does it matter so long as its not low bounce. Thanks.

The general rule of thumb would be the tighter the lie, the lower the bounce. Conversely for fluffy lies and bunker play you would use a higher bounce.

Bounce prevents a club from digging into the turf which causes "fat" shots. The angle of your swing also comes into play depending on wether it is steep or shallow.

Try a few out and see what suits your swing and the conditions you play in.
    The attached pic. may help...

Higher bounce is recommended for the majority of courses/weather we have in Ireland.
Typically its more important that you dont dig into the soft ground and duff it rather than blading it from the odd hard, tight lie you might have.

As greebo said higher loft for soft turf is what's recommended
However try to play out of a bunker with wet compacted sand with a lot of bounce and your at nothing. I'd recommend at least two wedges, one high and one low bounce. That way you have more options.

So you already have a pw and sw? What loft/bounce are they? Probably 46 and 54, bounce will be on the manufacturers site.

If you're a medium to high handicapper you can't go wrong with a bounce of 8 and upwards

If the sand is wet just clip it straight out :pac:
