I was just wondering about the legal system in Ireland and when a google search failed to turn up any results I turned to boards :L
I know that if you commit a crime e.g shoplifting in Ireland it is usually removed from your record when you turn 18 giving someone another chance (and the ability to go to countries such as the US?)
BUT what if you commit a crime at the age of 17 but it is only discovered by the Gardaí or whoever when you are 18+? Are you tried as an adult as compared to a child and are you stuck with that on your record? Just genuinely curious. I know this post rambles so I will try and clear it up :L . Say for example a 16 year old robs a house and leaves fingerprints. Said 16 year old moves on with their life and reaches the grand old age of 23 where they are fingerprinted by the state for something. If the fingerprints from that crime are matched to theirs and it goes to court will they be stuck with this on their record?
I haven't been commiting any crimes but I was just wondering what exactly the legal viewpoint was on this in Ireland as Google is only concerned with the USA :-0
    Thanks :)
