Really looking forward to this race. 10-10 is the cut off at this stage if 28 are allowed to run like last year. The Bishop Looney is the 28th. He won the Cork National last start off the back of a win at 17f.

Gigginistown have a few in here with Tharawaat, last years fav Beautiful Sound, Kicking Kings full brother Four Commanders and the seemingly difficult to win with Rivage D'Or. I'd expect Beautiful Sound to be Elliots runner ahead of Tharawaat if only one turned up but it might depend on the ground.

McManus has plenty in there too with Head Of The Posse, See U Bob, Aigle D´Or, The Hurl, Sweeps Hill, Alfie Sherrin, Groody Hill and Bob Lingo (phew!) all in the weights. As always with JP, most of those could turn up. Groody Hill won the Troytown last start pipping Ad Idem on the line. He's gone up 9lbs while the runner up, who is top weight in this, went up 5lbs.

David Pipe has his two entered though Sona Sasta will probably go for the Welsh National if he gets in after finishing runner up to Le Beau Bai at Chepstow recently. Master Overseer disappointed that day but was heavily backed so should be worth following. MO is around 31st in the list and would get a run if he was committed to Leopardstown. He won't be getting in at Chepstow after that effort.

A few of them are double booked for Chepstow. Tharawaat, Stewards House, Prince De Beauchene, Western Charmer, Alfie Sherrin, Telenor, Some Target, Sona Sasta and Master Overseer. But only the first four named could get a run over there. The rest would need it to be an absolute bog for others to come out but then they wouldn't want to either.

I reckon we'll see one of Pipes come over. I hope at least.

It really is a very good handicap and I hope it doesn't cut up too bad. It was worth a lot of money last season - more than twice the prize of the Welsh National. English trainers be crazy!

As another poster mentioned the Mullins horse On His Way has seen massive support in the last day or two. He's 3rd reserve at this stage and looks likely to get a run. Big worry is that he's a Presenting and theres been plenty of rain this afternoon in the area (BIG puddles!). Not for me at that price!

I am currently following Montan and would be very interested to see him confirmed for the race. I think he would be a very big price at 25/1 for an each way bet. Don't think the price would be under any pressure so I'll hold off.

Becauseicouldntsee is also interesting. He carries 6lbs more than last year but Noel Glynn is reported to say that at 17.1 hands the horse is more than capable of handling the rise. Second in last years race he should go well.

I still can't figure why Groody Hill hasn't seen much support in recent days. I'm almost tempted to have a bet on him because I expect to see support for him. If no one else is going to take 14/1 about the impressive Troytown winner, I might.

I like Sweeps Hill but he probably doesn't want 3 miles on testing ground.
