    hi
im not a gamer but won a wii a good few yrs back when they first came out. used one xmas..anyway decided to dig it out for the kids and bought a new game&extra controller...got home&set it up but having a few problems
1)the 2nd controller LED are blinking but the console isnt reacting to it,i tried to sync, tho unsure i did it correctly
2)the original controller is gliding to the right (onto next page) but its not highlighing ie.i cant choose the game/channel iykwim? so basically the A/home/-/+ buttons are working but still cant get the sports game to work despite seeing it up on screen
    3) i got just dance & its not reading that at all? its just spinning it onscreen as if its loading it.....
    it is for the bin??
sickened after paying 70e yesterday on the extra controller&game:mad:

Have you tried synching the remote with the console?
(Open memory card cover on the console, press the red button, and press the red button under the battery cover on the remote)

With regard to the controller "drifting right", do you have the sensor bar set up right? Are there any other sources of light nearby that could be effecting it? (LEDs, candles etc...)

If you have a nunchuck or gamepad attached to the controller, and the stick is not centred when the controller syncs to the Wii the "centre" position is misread. Then, when the stick returns to neutral that is read as movement and translated into the cursor going berserk.

If it's the same with no additional controller connected, you could remove the Sensor Bar from suspicion by putting two lit candles either side of your telly to act as infrared emitters. (Just so you know, that's all the "sensor bar" is - 2 infrared emitters a set distance apart. The front of the wiimote detects the position of the 2 emitters and guesses - based on their apparent distance from eachother and whether you said the bar was over or under the telly - what part of the telly you're pointing at.)

Under the Wii Settings menu you can run a recalibration of the wiimote, might help.

An easy way to Synch if you have one controller connected to the Wii is to hit the Home button, then press the bit at the bottom of the screen (Remote Settings I think, not in front of a Wii) - this gets you to press 1 and 2 on each controller in the order you want them detected. Saves you walking all the way over to the Wii! Make sure your nunchuck stick is centred before you do this :)

    Controller :
Stupid question really but when you press a button to sync the old controller, how many leds flash up before it settles on the first one to indicate that it's controller 1. Or, if the wii is off, how many leds flash when you press a button. If it's only 1 led, the batteries are on their last legs - the controller frequently syncs then powers off, forcing you to keep resyncing it.

2nd controller - what type is it and where did you get it?

Disc : Does the disc spin endlessly or does it eventually give up and give you an error telling you to power off the Wii?

If the former, it would be worth returning the disc for a replacement. You do sometimes get bad ones. At least if the replacement also doesn't work you know you're looking at a system issue. Is the disc for the same region as the Wii - you mentioned you won it, did you win it in the US by any chance?

If the latter, could be the drive , even if other discs work in the drive. You could try cleaning the drive with a lens cleaner. Often works. You may have a fundamental issue with the drive though, replacing the lens assembly or whole drive may be necessary to get it up and running. It's probably not worth the cost relative to a new wii... I know on my Wii there are some games that just don't work - Manhunt II and Rockband 3 - and some games that are flakey in the extreme - Guitar Hero 3 - where others are absolutely fine. Never figured out why and haven't had time to fit the replacement drive lens I bought...

Again, stupid question - you definitely bought the Wii version of Just Dance, right?

Is Just Dance a dual-layer disc?

You say your Wii is an early model - I know from experience that some early models couldn't read dual-layer discs at all. Nintendo were doing a free drive replacement for affected customers - not sure if they still are but I'd imagine they are as it is a fault with the console.

I know it affects games like Smash Bros. Melee and Metroid Prime Trilogy (which is the game I had issues with) but I'm pretty sure it was all dual-layer discs.
