Problem with stockbroker Goodbody's

Last year I briefly had a share dealing account with Goodbody's which I closed at the end of the year because of Goodbody's ridiculous charges. Knowing what financial institutions in Ireland are like, I closed the account by phone AND by letter AND by email.

On 2. December this year Goodbody's deducted 26 Euro from my current account which was associated with the share dealing account. A so-called "maintenance fee". I complained the same day (by phone AND by email, because... see above).

Part of the email reply from Goodbody's: "As the account should have been closed last year, we will of course refund the fee. It will be next week. Apologies for any inconvenience caused."

The "next week" has come and gone. The fee has not been refunded.

....you should probably just give them a ring and ask them for the status of the refund as it is late.

Yes, I noticed that the refund is late, thanks. And you think one phone call might fix that? When a phone call AND a letter AND an email were insufficient to have an account cancelled?

Goodbody's conduct is unprofessional and people need to be aware of it.

Is this a direct goodbody account or through AIB?

And yes i think a phone call might fix it.

It was through AIB. Not that it matters; I already contacted AIB on 2.12. and they merely put me through to Goodbody.

Since talking to Goodbody is a problem, it has been like talking to the wall in the past, I don't think that suddenly this has changed and a phone call will fix it.

I am now keeping my correspondence with them to email. At least this provides proof of communication exchanged.

Update. After not replying to two of my emails, today a reply from Goodbody to a third one. It "appears now that this could take longer than initially indicated."

However: "This should be done within a week."

Within a week!! Sounds familiar. Bets, anyone?
