    Hi,

Kinoteka, the free arthouse cinema club in the Harbour Bar, is screening Neil Jordan's film "The Miracle" on Tuesday, 13 December, 8:30 pm. It's free but spaces are limited.

As many of you know, life in Bray can be drab sometimes, and this also applies to Jimmy and Rose, two local teenagers who are bored and make up stories about people they encounter. So when a mysterious glamorous blonde (Beverly D'Angelo) shows up, local teenager Jimmy becomes fascinated with her and her world. His obsession leads him onto a slippery slope, pitching him against his father, his best friend and a lion tamer.

Why should you watch this? Because this is the closest Bray will get to Fellini; because it gives you a very good feel of what Bray might have been as a seaside resort back in the "good old (bloody freezing) days"; because this film is a very good exploration of some of Neil Jordan's favourite topics (his presentation of women as mysterious and knowing surely deserves a PhD thesis by now). "The Miracle" marked his return to form after a couple of less well received films. A year later he followed up with the surprise success of the " The Crying game" before Hollywood came calling again with "Interview with a vampire" (1994).

That's pretty cool. I didn't know about this film I'm guessing it was back when Neil Jordan and Beverly D'Angelo lived down by the seafront.
