Recently my partner was on maternity leave and getting basic social welfare payment with nothing from employer and I was on casual workers filling in the dockets each week.

    We have one child.

I'm after losing my part time work so have moved back on to JSB where I get paid €202.90 a week and my partner went to move to JSA when her maternity benefit ran out as her job is no longer there and was told she's only entitled to €120 a week.

I was wondering is this correct? €320 a week is not a lot. Our rent is €800 a month so we're left with €120 a week for groceries, bills, baby essentials.

    Thanks

If your partner isnt working why dont you claim for her as an adult dependant on your claim. It appears your getting personal rate and half rate child dependant on yours. If you claim for everyone you should receive €188 personal rate €124.80 adult dependant and €29.80 child dependant.=€342.60
If you are renting you should go to your community welfare officer and apply for rent allowance and also apply to the HSE for a medical card.

If you were to claim your partner as a qualified adult you would get

    188 yourself +124.80 herself + 29.80 baby = 342.60

    Thanks for the replies.

She went in herself to apply and they had my details, will she be automatically added to my claim or do I need to request this?

We've looked into rent allowance but are above the limit for the area we're living in. Looks like it's going to be tough. We were living week to week with me having part time work and her having her maternity benefit so we're down around €200 a week :(
