My leather miendel boots havent had a chance to dry over the past few weeks, i'm out every second day/night, the inside is still snug but the boot itself is wet, its not recommended to put them on/near a rad,,,,, will they rot? :o

My leather boots were saturated the other day also, but still dry on the inside. I put them on the log burning stove for a while and they were dry in no time. I'd just stick them on a hot rad and they will be ry in no time.

putting leather care or oils etc helps them to

drying them with heat will crack the leather prematurely buy a second pair ;) and give them a good coat of dubbin
when your wet ones have dried give them the best coat of dubbin you can ,warm them slightly as you do it that will fully waterproof the leather

What are the uppers made from(nubuk, waxed leather or fabric) and are they goretex lined? Do NOT put them on or near a radiator, especially if they are nubuk or leather! They will crack and split! Even a hotpress for too long won't do them any favours, but a couple of hours would be ok if they are really soaked. Your best bet is to let them dry out in a warm room for a couple of days and then, if they are leather, give them a generous coating of boot wax. Rub it on by hand, not a cloth, as the heat from your hand will help the wax to penetrate better. If they are nubuk you can still wax them, or get a nubuk specific treatment(I wax all my nubuk boots as I don't mind the waxed look, and it makes them last longer anyway). Do this every few months and your feet will be in happy boots for years:D.
    Good luck.

Avoid heating your boots. It's always best to let them dry naturally somewhere with good airflow.

You could try putting them into a box / bucket and then packing old newspaper around the boots. It might draw the water out of the leather quicker.

Newspaper does the trick when boots are wet on the inside, so it should do the trick.

To answer a few questions...........their the army pro boot, full leather. they cost @200quid and well worth it, they are like 4wd for the feet and for other than flatland i couldn't see myself going back to wellies....... the support given is unbelieveable, was out this am on a steep stalk, got drowned and ached after the trip but my feet were like they were on the first 1k

couldnt afford a second pair at their price, but might check out tk max when this shopping maddness ends to sus out a lower range inbetween boot for light hikes (good idea..thanks).

Was warned against heating them so i wont be doing that. will leave them in the hotpress tonight and hang them out under cover tomorrow.

I put a good coat of boot polish on them a few weeks ago & I firmly believe that it cost me two deer in the past couple of weeks:eek:... they had the whif off me a mile away it took me a while to cop the boot polish

will have to try the dubbin does it smell?? i heard that mink oil dries out the leather??

    cheers for replys.....cc30

You have a pair of my favourite boots of all time! Just bear with it and dry them out for a day or two and then take out the laces, lash on the wax,pay extra attention to the stitches and where the boot flexes at the instep. Smell is pretty much non existent after a day. Try to get meindls own brand wax if you can, it's a bit softer. Failing that, you won't go wrong with a tin of nikwax.

Ive an old pair of Meindels - ye cant beet them for comfort and support but for some reason they eventually leak in the toes! I keep em well waxed so its a bit of a mystery - I just reckon leather will eventually leak?

The army pro has 4 lacehooks above the locking hook. I promise you that they are the best hunting boots you will ever own. Mind them and they will mind your toe toes;)
