    What's the best I can do ?

Had an awkward moment last night when I asked my mum what she wanted for Christmas and she announced a Samsung galaxy 2 . She must have heard a bill pay price as she had been told it was sixty euro. On asking further it seems her main criteria in wanting it is that it has " big buttons "she can see easily.

Can anyone suggest an android that has a big screen that's(preferably a lot) more affordable than the galaxy?

I hope you pointed out the buttons aren't really buttons? I think you'd probably be better off explaing to her that the phone actually costs €470+

Alternatively, the samsung galaxy ace and the acer liquid metal (availiable here http://www.expansys.ie/acer-liquid-metal-205669/) are two sub €190 3.5" phones.

That's kinda the largest screensize your gonna get for cheap (Unless you can convince her she wants an Xperia Play of course :D).

A ZTE skate would be the perfect substitute as it actually has a 4.3" screen. You'd have to buy that from either ebay or orange in the north. Afaik they are still almost impossible to unlock though.

Edit: Actually the skate seems fairly reasonably priced on ebay at the moment. I guess that's your answer.

I second the ZTE Skate. There's unlock instructions at Mondaco. I unlocked one a few weeks ago. Sold as the Orange Monte Carlo in Argos in northern ireland. £139 I believe.

Are you sure that wasn't the Galaxy ACE ??? It's a lower-spec phone than the S.
