And according to the blurb certain cancers are significantly more prevalent in the North! What does that tell you?

The only thing that sprang to mind on hearing this was could it be to do with water fluoridation,as we are 1 of a very few countries that use 80-100% fluoridated water.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluoridated_water

    Any other thoughts?

    Why do you think that?

Well we would generally have the same eating, smoking and drinking habits.

Its not like the crowd in the north live on seafood and dont drink alcohol or dont smoke.

As we all live on the one island, what would it be?

I think this needs further research/investigation.

I think this needs further research/investigation.

maybe you should do that before pointing a finger at flouride?

as another poster said there are cancers up north that are more prevalent than down south?would this have something to do with water NOT having flouride?

Firstly the link you posted states among other things that "There is no clear association between fluoridation and cancer or deaths due to cancer" so that might be a starting point.

Secondly the north has an different economy, different education system and a different healthcare system. Each of these would have a impact on the rate and type of cancer that might occour.

Not sure how its that different myself.
I lived up in Derry for a good few years and the medical care is just as bad as the south from my experience.
The first thing i would consider also is flouride poisoning.
The food is the same except they eat more sugary ****e in their buns :p
All that fake cream eeww! lol

But why would you think Flouride ? When as has been mentioned that certain cancers are more prevalent. OP's statement is a misrepresentation.

Are any the anti science mob going to answer the question about flouride and some cancer being less prevalent ?

Would you say we eat more dairy or less than the 6 counties? Is there much of a price difference?

There'd be a lot of reasons to look at first before speculating about fluoride. Level of investment, technology, diet, screening methods, radon gas levels and others.

They specifically mention lower levels of education leads to a higher rate throughout the island in some types and then some are higher in those categories.

Well i did say its the first thing i would consider.
After flouride which has been linked to cancer of the bone marrow, i would probably consider diet and health education in those regions.

Still highly suspect of all those masts still going up.
Im not convinced they are any way safe at all.

Cork has the highest rates of cancer in Ireland. It also has the most pharmaceutical plants(which release a lot of steam/smoke from chimney stacks).Coincidence,maybe.
