I decided to add Sky Movies to my UPC subscription for xmass. However, if I want to watch anything before the watershed (8pm) I have to enter my PIN.. I have tried changing the settings on the box to no avail. Its very frustrating particularly when you're flicking between channels...
Anybody have a similar problem and managed to solve it??

    Thanks

There's a thread somewhere on the Sky boards that says no. If memory serves somebody mentioned that it's a legal thing but don't quote me on that. I think it's ridiculous since the code is on the viewing card but there ya go.

I was with UPC and I changed to Sky a few months ago.

The situation is the same on Sky.

Sky Movies can show 15 rated movies before 8PM now but it must pin protect the channels to prevent kids tuning in.

Oh well, thats that so! I thought with sky you could disable the parental lock completely.

    Thanks for the replies..

You can not disable the Sky Movies pin protection even on Sky.

No but a 9 year old can go on Google and find out in 2 seconds where to find the code. It's all a bit farcical but it's the way it is unfortunately.

Wrong on a Sky or UPC box parents can change the pin in the settings menu.

The little sticky finger muppets only get 3 attempts to enter the pin and they are locked out for a period of time. :D

On UPC boxes the Pin is 0000 by default and on Sky it is the last four digits of the viewing card.

These pins are meant to be changed by parents.

Have you ever actually done it? Because I have the old box in the kitchen and the + box in the living room and neither let me change it on the menu. It directs me to call a number:(

On a Sky box you must be connected to a phone line to change the pin with the remote.
This is so Sky can tell you your number if you forget it.
Without the line you need to call Sky and they will change the pin for you.

As regards UPC boxes there should be no problem.
