The Expanse talk reminds that it's months now since that last season wound up and there hasn't been so much as a sniff of a suggestion the last 3 books would get some kind of treatment.

The Expanse can legitimately claim to sit in the top tier of TV Sci-Fi - but it's also, arguably, unfinished in its story. That final season intentionally set a bunch of new wheels spinning, which was pretty ballsy really.

Only recently finished the final novel of the 9 and speaking of bittersweet. Ooh boy. Speaks volumes to how well the TV show got its casting that while reading I easily pictured the TV cast speaking the lines. Especially Amos.

Do you know all the short stories were just released as a paper back collection.

Oh I totally get that sentiment. Thank you!

I remember when I was a kid and was reading 1984, a grown-up saw it and told me he was jealous of me... that I was getting to experience it for the first time. I never forgot that

I do but I'm kinda weird that way. The Rocinante arc is done and that's kinda me set for a while. It sounds stupid but I need time to process and digest - especially that slight gut punch of an ending - before I'd consider going back to the universe and another set of characters. I'm still a bit sad, so going back will just make me want more time with the Roci.

Plus I'm not a huge fan of short stories. Write them on occasion, don't read em though. Like I said, am weird.

Galactica was a great space opera. I'm one of the few people who was happy enough with the ending. I'm not sure how else they could have made sense with the angel Baltar/Six, or whatever they were and the visions.

Expanse also brilliant. I do miss it. So much more of a story left to tell.

Ship porn is important. Ships do have their own character and followers.

It is on Amazon Prime. The later seasons were produced by Amazon, so doubt it will be on terrestrial or anywhere else anytime soon.

It can stay there so. I do not have Amazon and nor to I intend to get it anytime soon.

All the stories are related to the main book characters mentioned. For example the guy who invented the Epstien drive, Bobby's nephew, Dr Cortazar, young Amos etc etc. Nothing unrelated so far.

There are always the books (which are, honestly, fantastic)

    Or "Ahoy me-hearty"

Ye should also check out 'Foundation'

Foundation has fallen through the cracks by dint of that most First World of Problems; too much good TV. TBH I've just stopped trying to keep up with all the various shows I probably should be watching, and try to just wing it. You'd go mad otherwise.

I'm one of those people who loved the Simpsons but thinks it's awful now. So you know what I did. I stopped watching and left the people who still watch it alone. I don't hate watch and edgelord all over Simpsons forums.

    THIS!!!

I hated Enterprise - so I stopped watching it a few episodes in. I didn't post videos to YouTube explaining in detail why I thought it was ****. (Ok, I may have told my friends why I thought it was ****, over a couple of pints, but that's not the same!) I don't like Discovery at all, but if I do watch more of it (I've only watched a couple of the new season) and don't enjoy it, I'll just stop watching. I love Picard - I'll keep watching. Let people like what they like!

The Simpsons has been running so long now, that its High School Years episodes are set in the 1990s... ya know, the decade the show started. It's kinda insane. I also hear poor Julie Kavner's voice now is totally knackered from 30+ years of playing Marge.

I think you're possibly the only person I've ever encountered who actually liked that ending! The final few episodes, especially the last, were ropey as hell. It was clear they just didn't know how to end the thing. Kara as Space Jesus - what?! I couldn't listen to All Along the Watchtower for about 3 years after the show ended! 🤣 Wasn't the Caprica season the one that coincided with the writers' strike? That season was poor and didn't make much sense - why would the Cylons behave that way? But taken as a whole, it was a great series, and I loved that ship!

Discovery literally made the ship a character.

But then ignored the character and didn't give her any story or character development, because she wasn't Mary Michael Burnham Sue? 🤔 (He said, contradicting his own post from just above...)

In fairness that ship got more time this season than the living crew. The Zora thing got a rare non Burnham arc.

Oh I never said there weren't problems, and as you say it was kinda clear the writers had no idea where they were going; but like the poor Galactica's last hurrah, the writing allowed for some pretty effective, well-earned emotional climaxes, especially centred around the show's pivotal relationship. Having got sucked into the pain and loss trying to find a new home, constantly battling humanity's self-destructive streak, watching Adama carry a dying Roslin onto the Raptor for a small flight across Africa(?) earned a lot of runway for all the Starbuck silliness. God f*ckin' help me I even got a lump in my throat just typing that. LOL!

Wow, they really nailed not just the look of the old Animated Series, with that shonky animation, weird foreshortening n' all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,906 ✭✭✭Evade

Too many voice actors. Everyone who isn't Riker, Picard or Worf should be voiced by LeVar Burton

Must be an alternate reality Enterprise D where Poeg Cubes are purple and there us a Kzinti at the helm of the Enterprise D. I wonder who is missing. Is it Data?

Data would be on the left. Apart from Wes Crusher there wasn't really any primary character at the helm. Ro Lauren was there for a very short time but that's about it.

    This too shall pass.

You are very right. Just seen it in my mind now. Still it must be an alternate reality with the purple cubes lol.

Weasley Crusher was at the helm in Best of Both Worlds. He’s the one they swapped out :P

I’d love to see more of these, it totally works. The purple Borg is exactly the kind of nonsense Funimation would have done with that design :P
