They are an absolute joke!!! I was on to them a number of times and every time I spoke with them, the delivery date was moved back a week. An now I just received the below email.
    ______________________
    To all concerned,

It is with deep regret that we write to inform you that all deliveries scheduled from Friday 9th December 2011 up to Saturday 31st December 2011 have been postponed until the New Year. Unfortunately, in recent weeks we have experienced delays in receipt of funds which has seriously impacted on our ability to complete the manufacturing process.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused by this situation but can only suggest that you speak to the Groupon Management Team on tel no +44 (0) 203 510 0410 who are fully aware of this situation. Should a refund be required for your order then please contact Groupon on tel no +44 (0) 203 510 0410 who will be able to process this for you.

We must sincerely apologise once again for the situation which we now find ourselves in but which is totally outside of our control.

What the f*"k does "Unfortunately, in recent weeks we have experienced delays in receipt of funds which has seriously impacted on our ability to complete the manufacturing process." even mean. I'm seriously doubting they'll even deliver the order in the new year.

I have tried phoning both Groupon and CFS but can't get through to either. I eventually gave up on both after about half an hour.

So, like you, I'm wondering what the hell is happening. I'm so angry!!!!!!

Hi, I too have had the exact same issue, getting thru to CFS is a joke and near on impossible. I have waiting on hold to groupon this morning for almost half an hour and eventually managed to speak to a rep there. She told me there is no problem but the delivery is just being delayed till the middle of January. She also added that we can all get our money back if there is any problems as I suggested that they were possibley going into receivership? She said they werent and that delivery will be with in 2 weeks of beginning of January. Hmmmmmm yeah right. Thats my dead line with them if I havent got my sofas by middle of Jan I am cancelling. There is an old saying ' if it sounds too good to be true it usually is' just hope not in they case eh!!!!!!

Anyone actually get an order confirmation from these jokers? There terms and conditions state that they have no liabilty if you do not have an order confirmation which I never received despite requesting several times.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 cherryburton

I'm in the same boat - they originally said the 7th, then bumped it back to the 17th and they seem to be totally disorganised. (One person will confirm the delivery , then someone else will email to say that they're sorry it's not been confirmed yet.) I can't be arsed with it anymore, I just want my cash back now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 cadger1978

Just spent 1 hour on hold to groupon before getting through.Have requested full refund for sofa plus the refund of delivery costs.

these guys in the UK are never gonna deliver IMHO every time you call their number there is a different automated operator or process, usually it just doesnt ring or goes dead.

I'm never using one of these deal sites again after this experience.Just hope I get my money back before Groupon announces that they are bust.

Warning for anyone remotely considering something being a bargain on these sites!!

Probably worth saving that extra bit more and going with someone legit.

I finally got through to Groupon after about half an hour and they are going to refund the voucher - however I paid for the delivery by Paypal so have just raised a claim. And interestingly - when I've tried to contact CFS using the Paypal transaction contact details, whaddya know? The address no longer exists - so looks like they're trying to pull a fast one with the money. Also they've probably just waited long enough for most people's payments to be past the 45 day claim period. I sneaked in there with about two days to spare. All very, very dodgy...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 bradders76

Hmmmm maybe i might be best off cancelling mine. How long till the money is refunded and what did paypal say about the delivery charge? Can you not claim that back now then cuz i paid mine paypal too :0(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 Rella

Just spent over an hour getting through to Groupon who have put in the application for refund. Have to wait ten working days though. Cannot use Paypal dispute service as it is past 45 days since payment was made and have to write to Charge Back Unit at bank to attempt to get the upgrade and delivery charge back!!!! What a pile of SH1T. A Very Merry F%^&1NG Christmas this is!!!!!!!!!!!

Just found this forum. Having the same problem as you guys.
What do you think is the best thing to do at the moment?
The deal is very good, but willing to cancel. How much of a protection Groupon gives us?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4 bradders76

Binary I would cancel, and do it now!!!!!! Its worth holding on to speak to Groupon and cancel, I have!!!! They told me money should be in my account within 5 working days and if you paid your delivery thru paypal you have 45 days from the transaction date to start a claim. I was unsure what to do but after seeig this thread I cancelled!

I've actually had a email dialogue with Callum from cfl re purchasing some matching fabric to go with the sofa ordered. However I can't wait till mid Jan to see if the sofa will or will not turn up so I called Groupon who have organised a refund with no hassles. Onto cfl re getting the 2x delivery charges refunded so I'll see how I get on. I'll be over that way Thurs/Fri so any hassles and I can always pop in :-)

EDIT- Just noticed that others have claimed via paypal for the delivery charge. Since I'm 2 days from missing that window I've stuck in a claim also just to be safe.

Also speaking to Groupon there was not an issue with them releasing funds to cfl for the vouchers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 cherryburton

Groupon told me I'd have the money back in my account in 3-5 days. I think you might still have some protection through paypal even if it's out of the 45 days, it's worth double checking. Makes you wonder if they knew they were going down and thought they'd pull a scam to take as much down with them as they could - hence paypal email address that CFS used being completely shut down (but then I am quite cynical.) It's all way dodgy anyway and I'd rather have my £300 back in my pocket and look for something in the Jan sales than risk them going bust and taking the lot.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 binary211

It seems that theirs Facebook group is also deleted. BEWARE!!! Although I suppose they won't need to manage the brand reputation after this fiasco is over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33 Rella

I have just sent the following mail to Groupon Customer Support, if we all do the same they may do something!!!!: -

I have contacted customer services today and requested that my €300 for undelivered furniture from CFS Furniture in the UK is refunded. I was advised by customer services that this takes 10 working days, but have heard elsewhere it is just 5 working days. Can you kindly clarify.

I also paid for delivery and upgrade through Paypal, but cannot claim this back through them as it has passed the 45 day window. This order was placed in good faith from a company advertised by Groupon and should therefore be obliged if you would kindly arrange the refund of the €94.99 also. (Paypal receipt attached).

I have purchased other items through Groupon without problem and hate to think that this issue could colour my view of Groupon in the future. I therefore look forward to hearing from you with a positive response in the near future.

    Thanks Rella,

Guys Im sending off my copy of the email now. This was looking like a **** christmas but i'll be a lot happier with the money back in the bank. The groupon customer support told me that they would get the Paypal delivery charge back also even though im outside the 45 day window.

    Fingers crossed.

I cancelled my order yesterday with groupon and within 30 mins of cancelling it was back into my paypal account.....only the £250 tho, apparently they are not responsible for the delivery???

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3 binary211

Just spoken to Groupon and they assured me that it is only a delay.
I've asked for a written confirmation that I will get a full refund in case of any problems and they've sent me following:
Further to our discussion earlier today regarding your order with CFS Furniture, this is a quick email, as you requested, to confirm that should the deal be cancelled, you will of course be entitled to a full refund. At the moment however, CFS Furniture have just confirmed that the delivery of these orders will be delayed until January. Should you have any further queries, please get in touch.

    What do you guys think?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 cadger1978

this doesn't fill me with confidence.Groupon seem to be making excuse after excuse. The deal is very unlikely to be cancelled as CFS (now stands for cute F-ing sasannaighs) can just keep extending the delivery date as they see fit.I contacted my bank to suss out the story and they told me that based on corresspondance with Groupon which i forward to them they will investigate and try to get the monies back in full.

Hi, i have asked groupon for a refund of my monies , which they have said will be in my account in 5 working days. They said I will have to get delivery costs back from CFS. However i have so far had no correspondence from CFS regarding the refund of my delivery charges. I have checked out the details of one Martin Muldowney to whom the paypal payment was made and have come up with the following info
    on Director check.

    http://company-director-check.co.uk/director/909111339
    Director Summary

Mr Martin Muldowney has 6 company director or secretary appointments.

This doesn't look too clever , I will keep trying to get my delivery monies back.

Reading the above it appears that groupon seem to be telling a different story to different people i got the below communication from them today indicating that they would refund in full and also the delivery costs.

"I can clarify it does take up to 10 working days for the CFS Furniture refund to be processed. The refund for the postage will also be arranged.

Please let me know if you do not receive any update in regards to your refund request.

I do apologise for the inconvenience this has caused.

    Thank you for your patience."

i would imagine that if they are promising me the delivery refund then it should apply to anyone else.

I've just got to speak to someone at CFS! Using 0161 628 8121 and then option 1 for customer service/sales. Spoke to a guy who told me he would pass my details to their accounts who will refund my paypal delivery charges.... we shall see!

Hi, I looked for my refund from Groupon in mid November as they kept changing delivery dates, I received it within 10 working days and I have just got my refund from Paypal for delivery. Dont think this furniture will ever arrive.

Groupon's business model stinks, they add nothing but chaos to every 'deal' and I can't wait for them to go under. The only problem is that they are going to take an awful lot of small investors with them, the mugs who learned nothing from the dot com crash in the early noughties.

Made a trip to cfs this lunchtime as I was over that way. Place is closed up and the lights are off. Place next door says they shut down a week or so back and that there was a notice put up saying as much. There was still many sofas in the showroom but it did look abandoned.

Got my Groupon refund thru straight away and now waiting on what Paypal will do.

I have also been duped by this "too good to be true" offer! ordered the 3+2 seaters in Nov and delivery was scheduled for 27th Nov, then rescheduled for 10th Dec. I double checked via email with Callum <SNIP> that the del was going to happen and I arranged to get rid of my old sofa. only received email the evening before delivery was due to say it wasnt coming! No sofa and no money - just what I needed at christmas!

Tried to contact Groupon several times since then - on hold for over half an hour each time and ended up giving up. Logged a dispute with paypal for delivery charge and sent a very angry email to groupon last week and asked for reply in 7 days - copying to CFS email. Guess what...?! not heard a thing from either but mlweb has confirmed why! they've shut up shop!

CFS Furniture are a joke and i dont think they had any intention of delivering the sofa's and are just buying themselves time!

my advice is steer well clear and request a refund asap if you havent already.

I had sent a couple of mails regarding the upgrade and delivery costs to support@citydeal.ie, but received no response. So I took the time and called them waited the half hour for an answer and then asked if they would refund the upgrade and delivery costs paid through Paypal to CFS. The girl said she would find out for me and call me back with an answer and an update on the voucher refund also. So I gave my mobile number not expecting a call back. But an hour later the girl called back to advise that there was no update on the refund yet but the reason for taking 10 days to go through is that they check what was paid for upgrades and delivery so that they can refund that also. Watch this space....................................................

I have had all my monies refunded now. £250 from Groupon,I emailed Groupon and found them very helpful. £44.99 to my paypal account from Paypal. I had to escalate with Paypal today as no response from CFS and I received a full refund 3 hours later. I am happy at last :) Merry Christmas!

I am currently employed by Cfs furniture Ltd. I can assure you there aren't any problems within our company! Groupon are basically holding us to ransom over money owed to us for the 1000 sofa sets we have already delivered to customers that have purchased the Manhattan sofa from ourselves. It is true that our showroom has been closed down but this has been planned for a while as the times are tough economically and it was losing us money on a daily basis. Our sofa manufacturing department, frame manufacturing shop and foam conversion department are all still fully operational and in full working order. We have been told we are unable to deliver Groupon orders until the money owed to us is released from Groupon. I have recieved my full wage without problem on the nominated payday each month for the year or so I have worked there and there have never been any signs of the company going into liquidation.

    Hi Guys,

I received the following from Groupon today: -

"Manhattan Sofa: Two Seater (€159), Three Seater (€199), or Both (€300) from CFS Furniture (Up to 83% Off)"

We have important information for those of you who purchased this Groupon.

Regretfully, due to reasons beyond our control, including but not limited to failure of certain customer quality assurance checks, CFS Furniture are no longer in a position to fulfil orders made by Groupon customers. As such, we have no option but to cancel this deal and refund customers in full for their Groupons.

To claim back your postage and packaging, please write to:

    CFS Furniture Ltd
    Unit 1 & 2
    Laurel Trading Estate
    Higginshaw Lane
    Oldham
    OL2 6LH
    United Kingdom
This incident has no bearing whatsoever on other deals offered. We hope to bring you a similar deal in the near future and thank you for your understanding at this time.

We hope this unfortunate incident does not discourage you from opting for other upcoming offers in your city at www.groupon.ie.

    Kind regards,
    The Customer Service Team

I have written to CFS Furniture requesting the refund for upgrade and delivery today. Let's see what happens.

If this is the case Dave, why does nobody in CFS respond to correspondence divert the telephone to someone who will answer it or even have a new number put onto the website. You must be able to understand our concerns from what we see.

I am aware that the customer service/sales office has 5/6 people working there from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday and have 6 lines operational, every time I have been into the office all 6 people are on the phone dealing with groupon customers. With the volume of sales generated by Groupon (and over sold by Groupon) we could, at any one time, have 2500 customers ringing in for information. This obviously isn't ideal but we are a small manufacturing company that predominately wholesale to other shops up and down the UK, and weren't geared up to handle the volume of orders generated. Hence the reason we explained to Groupon that we had the capacity to make 1500 sofa sets at the most. We again apologize for any inconvenience caused to customers.

Just been on the phone to Groupon having received a refund without any explanation as to why the order was cancelled. We didn't even receive the email- she forwarded it whilst I was on the phone.

I asked who has had my £250.00 in their bank account accumulating interest for 7 weeks and they stated it has been in CFS's bank account. I said right shall I quote that to CFS when I ask for my money back to which they replied No! Good job those calls are recorded!! Yet when I phoned CFS several weeks ago regarding this matter they said it was because Groupon hadn't forwarded funds!

Groupon have just offered a £50 Groupon voucher - what a joke - why so you can not fulfil another order!!!!!

I have phoned trading standards last week and will phone again tomorrow. I suggest everyone who has been put out by Groupons incompetency contact Trading Standards and also WatchDog. Surely they cannot advertise deals and sell 100s, leave people waiting for 7 weeks over the Christmas period and then just issue a refund!

I was chatting to a friend who works for Groupon. CFS would have had to have provided proof of order completion in order to redeem the Groupon vouchers. Groupon work with the supplier to establish the capacity that can can be supplied. Several of the Groupon scare stories published are 90% bull. Especially that cup cake lady, she wanted more sales thru Groupon.

Any how, Groupon refunded me as did Paypal so I'm not out of pocket. Ordering a nicer sofa set from Homebase tommorow (Homebase have their orders underwritten by insurance in case of problems).

Are you saying that Groupon sold more deals than you authorised them to do? That sounds a bit odd.

I bought the 2 sofa deal for £250 from and they were both delivered in November, within 5 days of the sofas arriving, a friend leant on the armrest of the 2-seater and it collapsed!

I contacted CFS successfully and then confirmed that I would have a straight swap on December the 21st, so I took the day off work and waited at home all day for them never to arrive!

I have emailed them since and heard nothing, I have rang them and not got any response. There website seems to have been removed (I'm guessing the files have been deleted from their webserver because they haven't even put a holding page).

Luckily my purchase was made with a credit card and I can go throught them about getting my money back, but for now, I have a broken sofa in my living room that I can't seem to do anything about.

After this experience, I could not recommend CFS Furniture ltd to anyone.

Hi, I have same issue. I bought the deal in September, arranged 21st December delivery, I phoned the week before just to make sure the driver would bring it into the room as states on website as long as you ask in advance (took me 4 days to get through, ringing out so not sure if there are 6 workers why it rings out all day every day, surely it would be engaged if so many customer queries?) finally end of day Thursday I got through to be told all Groupon deliveries have been postponed.

I asked was anyone going to inform me of this as I am phoning you for a query, as far as I was concerned the suite is being deliverd next week, I was told I should have got email which I did not receive, he sent it to me while I was on phone I definately did not receive it.

My problem is that although it was the Groupon offer, I did not do it through Groupon I did it directly through CFS. I phoned them on the day of the offer to see if they had the colour of suite I wanted in stock as if I bought the Groupon voucher which did not activate until 8pm the next day then could not get through at 8pm or they were sold out of then colour I wanted then I was stuck with £250 voucher so when I phoned them they said they could put order through for me there and then.

This is a problem now as I cannot go to Groupon as technically it has nothing to do with them and I cannot get through to CFS as lines just ring out, they do not answer their emails (I have emailed 4 times since Sept as they do not answer phones) so I am down £250 with no suite and no form of communication so not sure where to go now.

I tried to explain to the guy on the phone that I paid my £250 directly to them not Groupon so the Groupon funds issue should not affect me, they have my money so I should get my suite, he said it doesn't matter it's termed under Groupon to them. I may have to fight my corner with them that they have my money not Groupon so I either get suite or refund but that's if I can even contact them! After reading post above that suite fell apart I would rather refund!

Has anyone received a refund yet for shipping costs from CFS? I wrote 2 weeks ago and no response. I contacted Groupon and they said nothing to do with them as the shipping costs were paid directly to CFS . The deal was made through Groupon and if they had properly researched CFS they would have realised that the company director was <SNIP> whom has been involved in previous furniture companys that have gone under!!! The refund was processed by Groupon days after the 45day limit was up to claim back shipping from paypal !

Has anyone contacted trading standards to investigate?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 Rabbitface

Hello, I have sent Groupon many emails of which they keep sending a standard response back saying that I need to claim my refund back from CFS, despite me highlighting that other people have had refunds and that CFS is a fraud as they dont answer the phone and their website has gone down therefore the likelyhood of getting my refund is practically zero.

Has anyone had any luck with trading standards? I think we need to get some momento together against Groupon as this is rediculous! I only got a response to my emails because I slagged them off on Twitter.

From somebody who works in Customer Service, Groupons service is a joke. I literally can't believe this company makes this amount of money. I have bought deals from groupon before which have had no problems however when you run into a problem it's hard work to even speak to someone. I'd love to take a trip to their call centre and speak to their managers.... Do they have any plans to imporve their call centre? Do they know they work? Please employ someone from a communication provider with experiance in running a call centre! Do you even care about dropped call rates? Call handling time? customer satisfaction? It's a joke. It's on par with CFS... at least they have an excuse of not having the staff... but groupon?? what excuse do you have?!

I also love that a procdure hasn't been put in place for just this deal. Why are some people being offered differently to others? I have my refund on it's way....( I hope) latest they said 4th of Jan which is fair enough with the bank holidays. But why have people been offered 50 quid voucher? didn't I moan enough? Another point! do you care about repeat contacts I'm going to callnow and sit on my bed for 30 mins waiting for you to answer the phone just to get this voucher as they evidentely value other customers more than me.

I honestly can't believe groupons level of service! It's a joke. As for CFS the people who made the decisions were either very clever and got there last bit of dosh or are just a terrible company with people making equally as terrible decisions as groupon.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5 Rabbitface

I agree, thats what I'm trying to get across to them that you can't offer some people a refund and not others and then hand out vouchers to others. I keep emailing them, highlighting this and they keep insisting I have to go to a company who is fraudulent to get my money back, even though I have pointed out I have heard zilch from them so far. I've taken to writing on their every post on Facebook so at least I might stop someone else from making a mistake and purchasing from them. Can't believe how many bad posts there are about them. Seems they've cocked up every deal they have promoted!

Wow just been offered £15 Groupon credit - certainly compensates for the £100 I currently don't have having ordered 2 sets of sofas!

    "Thanks for your email.

Groupon are unable to offer you a refund for your postage and packaging cost. However I would like to offer you, as a gesture of good will £15.00 Groupon credit to apologise for the inconvenience caused to you while you wait for your refund from CFS. The credit is available right away and is valid for a year. Please tick the 'use credit' box at the check out next time you make a purchase.

    Kind regards,

I too am caught up in the Groupon Saga, managed to get a refund for the sofas are much correspondance but no where near getting back my £44 delivery, after 2 weeks of writing and eventually only recieving back the orignial email they sent 2 weeks ago (telling to contact CFS direct) I was totally frustrated so I posted & reposted my complaint note over & over again on every Groupon Wall there was going, they deleted, I reposted, In fact the USA Groupons responded pretty much immediatly.

Anyhow cutting a long story short, been emailed today see response below .......

I'm sincerely sorry to hear of the inconvenience this deal has caused.
Our phone lines are closed for the weekend and will reopen on Monday. However, I have escalated your details to my supervisor who will request the £44 be refunded to your method of payment. Unfortunately, I am unable to offer the refund from our end since it is physically impossible on our system but we are currently investigating this on behalf of all our customers.

Please accept my apologies for the disappointment caused. Please do not hesitate to get back in touch should you have any further queries
    ,

................................Who knows if it will actually materialise, will keep you updated, however did make me laugh that 10 mins later this email came through............

    Next update...

    Hi there,
Thanks for getting back in touch.
It can typically take between 14-21 days for our partner to be in touch with you and, as such, I am unable to give you a guaranteed date for when the refund will be processed. If you still haven't heard back from our partner within a fortnight, please do get back in touch and I will be more than happy to chase this up on your behalf.
    Kind regards,
    Emily

So pretty much then, they will go back to CFS, in 21 days the refund wont come & ill be given another £10 Groupon voucher, bleurgh
I am so infuriated, I know that I should really let this one go but its the principle ! So i have written another letter of complaint questioning when it is 14 days from ? today ? when the deal fell through? Who the partner is ??
I also made clear that I was sharing all corresapondance with discussion boards of disgruntled customers !
    Will keep you updated

Thanks Samm and good luck! Just tried to file a claim with PayPal tonight. They've closed it already! Not been in touch and say they are unable to file it. And that the 'seller' is unable to respond to it. What the heck? :(

Well I did finally get the money paid to Groupon back, this was the response received on 22nd Dec after the last mail chasing them on 13th Dec: -

Please allow up to 5 working days for this to go back into your account.

To claim back your postage and packaging, please write to:

    CFS Furniture Ltd
    Unit 1 & 2
    Laurel Trading Estate
    Higginshaw Lane
    Oldham
    OL2 6LH

This incident has no bearing whatsoever on other deals offered. We hope to bring you a similar deal in the near future and thank you for your understanding at this time.

I did write to CFS aswell as e-mailing them and heard nothing, so I have today sent the following response to the mail from Groupon: -

    To whom this may concern,

I have received no response to my written request for the delivery and upgrade costs of €94.99 from CFS. And from reading various accounts of other persons on discussion forums who were let down on the same deal both in the UK and Ireland, it is highly unlikely that CFS are going to respond.

To this end , to avoid further bad publicity I believe that as the promoter of CFS Furniture, Groupon should take responsibility and reimburse their Groupon Voucher customers who were caught up in this fiasco and then claim the monies back from CFS themselves.

Rest assured I will be advising all interested parties how this incident is handled by Groupon and am more than happy to take it further if necessary, as although the money may not be a large amount the inconveience and upset caused not to mention the principle of it all need to be accounted for.

I look forward to hearing from you in the very near future.

I suggest we all do the same, hopefully a combined effort may improve our chances!! I will let you know if I get a response. But please let me know if you do the same.

    Rella

oops looking at these posts this is another dodgy purchase and i thought it was the extra turkey and beer!

i bought back in sept 09 received dec 11... upgraded for the better fabric.

arm collapsed as per another earlier post.

informed i need to write back to CFS to get them returned so Groupon can issue a full refund.

not holding my breath for a response by the looks of it.

has anyone got the email address so i can speed up the process a bit as i can imagine i will be making a phonecall to Groupon saying that noone from CFS responded.

    cheers

For my part now it is too late for getting my money for the delivery, I have called paypal and I had only 45 days to be able to claim the refund because of their sluggishness I was well over the limit grrrrrrrr , I have been told to call my bank but even my bank can do nothing for me ...
I have to go to lodge a complaint with the garda what do you think??

I have not been successful in contacting CFS. I had a very quick response and refund from Groupon, but not for the delivery.

I (stupidly) paid by bank transfer into CFS bank account. Any suggestions????
