Can I claim tax credit for paying rent for offspring?

Hi, I am a PAYE worker with child who is in college. Am paying her rent for her. Am I entitled to any form of tax credit for this? I had a look on Revenue.ie but couldn't find a definitive answer. Hoping someone here will be able to advise. Thanks in advance.

Is the lease in your name? Also tax credits are being phased out for people who were renting from 7th december 2010 and anyone after that aren't due any tax breaks.

Sorry. You would actually have to be living in the rented property yourself to claim it.

Thanks for the swift replies. i had a feeling that I wouldn't be able to claim anything, but it was worth a try!
