I am thinking of doing a sound engineering course in either Pulse or the Sound training centre. I am currently in Trinity doing a course that I hate and am probably going to drop out. Could anybody tell me the differences between the two training centres and if these courses are any use??

    What's your degree in Trinity?

In terms of life and your ability to get work, a degree from Trinity is worth far more than any qualification from Trinity.

Very, very, very, very few people who ever pass through those courses get a job in music production.

If it's technology related hang in there - depends on the degree. You can always do a masters afterwards. I reckon everyone hates college at this time of year anyway. Get a soundcard, headphones and a pair of microphones and just start recording. Do a summer thing in STC or Pulse or organize some work experience. You need a little help to get started but you really learn about recording on your own.

Its very hard to get a job in just audio, there is a course in IT Tallaght a digital media course, in the audio section alone there is radio production, music productions, mixing techniques, mastering techniques, editing audio for video, sfx applications, studio building (designing a studio on a "budget"). On top of all of this you do tv production, graphic design and photography for your first two year and then drop one of them , in fourth year you drop another, my plan is to do audio and multimedia. Its a good course goes really in depth into this stuff.

That and it doesnt cost a **** loada money!
