Redundancy

Hi, I am looking for some advise on redundancy. I have been working in my job for 11 years now and recently have been put on short tern lay off. In the last 11 weeks I have worked only 7 days in the company. The company did not give me notice of the lay off until the day it happened, nor have they kept me informed of anything in the last 11 weeks. It looks like this is going to be a permenant lay off. From what I have been reading the company can do this for 13 weeks. This leads me to my question, I was thinking that I would sumit a claim for redundancy after the 13 weeks is up because its quiet clear to me that I wont get asked back for further work as it was the 2nd November since the last time I was asked, and that was only for 3 days then.
Another question I have is what happens if the company decides to close down/or go bust, where does that leave me in relation to my redundancy ? I have a feeling that myself and my fellow workers are being just led along to waste time and that the company will close for Xmas and not open again ! It is a Limited company !! Thanks from a worried employee!!

Get on to the citizen information office ASAP. I would put it in writing that you are available for work each week that this goes on. Are you claiming JSB /JSA?

I would also write to the company telling them that if you have another week without work you will be seeking redundancy.

Call 'nera' to get advice on the situation too as they handle the redundancy claims if a comapany goes bust. It can take a while to get the money in that instance.
