I've been having issues with running injuries for the last year now.

Basically I have problems with posterior shin splints and IT Band S. on one leg. I've been to a physio therapist who recomened a Orthothist to me, who gave me insoles. I've been giving a lot of time to stretching/rolling my bands and stengtening my arches/knees/hips. But still have some pain while running, at the moment all I do is a very brisk jog over 1mile. I compensate my cardio by rowing/crosstrainer/swiming.

A relation of mine over in England said that he had similar trouble with his It Bands and said he went to a sports specialist over there who worked wonders. He said that that this guy spent a lot of time examining his legs and recorded him running on a threadmill. i can't remeber the term he used but the specialist determined his "angle of danger" or "dangle measurement" or something like that.

Has anyone any experience of dealing with a specialist similar to this in Ireland or preferably in the West? I'm thinking of heading over to see this specialist but if there was someone good over here I wouldn't have to

Don't overlook the importance of the correct running shoe to suit your biomechanics.

Have your gait analysed and get fitted for proper shoes first. You may not need the expensive orthotics or consultants.

Yeah I had been there, my consultant seemed pretty good. They could see what the problem was by looking at it. But I'm thinking of getting a second opinion on this

Thanks that seems a pretty good specialist. Could I ask have been to this place yourself or did you just hear about it?

I was there myself with a torn quad a few years ago, as well as a messed up knee, he & his team are very good.

Keith is the physio with the Connacht Rugby team so may be able to do a consultation with you in the Galway area as well.
