Was called to Naas courthouse yesterday for jury service and my name wasent called. Back again this morning. 1st case called, barrister stands up " You honour my client is not here and has a history of not been very punctual" 2nd case "your honour my client is actually in the central mental hospital" 3rd case, "Your honour, my client is serving a prison term in Cork and is not here.4th case " your honour i was talking to my client outside about ten minutes ago and he is anxious to have the matter settled but he does not appear to be here now" All potential jurors sent home and have to be back in the morning. What a waste of time and money is this normal in a court or is it just in Ireland.

I had similar in Carlow. Employers weren't particularly happy as I was called back every day for a week before being dismissed.

Ring the Court first thing tomorrow and get their advice, they are usually quite helpful.

Thanks Valley - i am going to try tomorrow to call and see what happens.

I feel a bit under pressure to be at work now, but obviously cant afford any fines or black marks against me if you know what i mean.
