    Hi All,
Need some advice from someone involved with Airsoft...........

Know nothing about Airsoft, but have been asked for an airsoft handgun as a Xmas present.I have seen some Airsoft on the stalls in fairyhouse ,and goggled alot, but TBH at this stage I'm suffering from info overload.

I have read the sticky above ,and see there are 3 types.Which type is most reliable/best. Electric, gas powered or spring?.
Any recommendations for Airsoft brand name or a shop name on the northside of dublin, would be great .
    My budget is €100.

If you were starting out, what and where would you buy?.

    I would appreciate any help

    Thanks

CO2 is the best in my opinion as it's more reliable but prob more expensive to run.
Also 100 Euro isn't really enough for good pistol as most of pistols I have seen cost about 120-150 Euros and more I may be wrong though as I buy only from same suppliers all the time.

If it's specifically a handgun you're after, go with a gas-powered option. Springer pistols are usually cheap rubbish, electric ones are pretty unusual.

€100 is a tight budget to get a decent pistol at. Have a look around retailers websites for an idea of pricing, then visit the promising places if you can. Personally I'd expect to pay €130-€150 for a pistol that's worth getting (you could pay more, but I wouldn't go below that for most things). You could however probably arrange with a retailer for some kind of gift certificate or store credit to the tune of €100, which would keep you in budget, provide you with effectively the gift, but also allow the recipient to choose exactly what pistol they want - preference of pistol is a very personal thing, and an awful lot will come down to how each piece feels. Far more than with bigger guns something like the size of your hand matters a lot with pistols.

    Best o' luck with it!

If I stretch it to €130-150 ,can you recommend a brand/make.Or a place to buy ,that will give good advice.

If I might make a suggestion. Have a look at the retailers section and click on the HobbyAirsoft.ie (Kildare) link. Post a question asking if they have any display models available.

    I picked up a Sig P226 and an M9 from Maciek87 this way. It's worth a try.

I suggest HobbyAirsoft.ie as I got display units from them previously and even though they are in Kildare, I had the items in about 2 or 3 days from ordering. You could also ask some of the other retailers though, they might also have display models for sale.

€100 should be enough to buy a Non-Blow Back Co2 Pistol.
Pro's - Cheaper to run, 250+ shots from a single Co2 cartridge, no moving parts meaning less to go wrong.
Con's - emmm, no Blowback, meaning less fun??

Linky to a few for you -mixture of retailers so I'm not being biased

There are also a few Gas Blow Back's for sale below €100, mainly from www.Airsofteire.com

Plenty of choice out there below €100, all good solid retailers who will look after you aswell.

I reckon a voucher is a good bet, lots of airsoft shops do them. MEans the person gets a trip to look at the shinies as well.

If you're looking to actually start playing airsoft I would first recommend you getting a primary first, the G&G Raider is the one i'd go for there 230euro usually, its out of your budget but G&G are one of the best. If you're not looking to actually play airsoft but are more looking to mess around with it (keep it safe of course :)) €100 can be okay if you're after a NBB pistol (non blowback) it doesnt use the recoil action of the slide to re chamber then next BB so is cheaper (usually 80 euro) but less realistic, easier to maintain though and more economic to run. A GBB is probably you're best option, is more realistic but usually cost more, a few good brands are KJW (have their M9) KWA, WE and KWC. then you have to choose Co2 or gas, gas is cheaper but co2 will give you more power better consistency in your shots and works in the cold weather. the m9 i have i got from hobbyairsoft and is a Co2 one.

there is a few things to consider, hopefully my post and the rest of them can help you make up your mind

there are the 3 retailers i use most. Very good and never had a problem with any of them.

hope it helps and welcome to airsoft :)

    I have this pistol myself:

It's a great pistol, you get 250 shots per canister, upsides it's economical, nice feel and looks great, downsides, NBB, but it performs when i want it to.
