    - Overhaul of public service paid sick leave
    - 10 per cent reduction in public service overtime
    - 5 per cent cut in public service allowances and premium payments
    - Limited recruitment into public service next year
    - Public service pay bill will fall by €400m next year.

Some of the main points from part 1 of the budget yesterday. I am going to be entering into the HSE next year as an intern. How is the budget going to affect things?

I think this is a good move - "There will be €13.6 billion for health next year including €50m to fund implementation of the Programme for Government commitments on mental health and access to GP care"

Dont worry yourself. As an intern you wont be allowed sick days anyway and as for paid overtime - dream on. You get to work for free, all the hours you want. Things will get sh!tter. But look on the bright side, when you leave the country you will feel so much better.

Has anyone heard yet how they plan on implementing these cuts?

Are they cutting the rates HSE staff are paid their overtime/on-call & associated allowances at? Or are they planning on cutting the provision of these services?

Am working in the HSE and have yet to hear anything through official channels.
