    Hi,

I am thinking of upgrading to UPC broadband and I need to try it before I commit to a 12 month contract. I want to get at least 25 meg. Would anyone here be willing to give me 20 mins. to test it?
I know that it's a bit cheeky to ask someone to let a perfect stranger into their house or premises but it's the only way I can see to test before I commit.

    Thanks

The real question is what exactly do you need to test?

    20 mins? a speedtest wouldn't take that long. :p

Just go by people telling you here on how it is.. even if you sign up to 25 meg and get 15meg you will still be getting a faster service cheaper than eircom..

25mb will probably get you 2-3 mb download speeds. Your only other real alternative is eircom and eircom is still in the stone age compared to UPC

    That's not right, typo yeah?

I have the 50 meg pack and it is great. 35meg with wifi and around 47 to 55meg wired.

Expect 15meg plus minimum on the 25meg package.

Upload is around 3 meg. AFAIK it is the same on all the packs.

    She means MegaBytes/second.
You should get around 3 mB/s from 25mbit UPC.

    Thanks for the replies all.

I need to run a few different applications over the net and I want to see how well they perform. I can't say more than that as it's a new business idea..
nothing illegal or anything but I'd rather not expose my plans.
I'm in Naas in case anyone can help.

Got sorted on this folks so thanks anyway. Looks like the whole idea is a non-runner.
    Back to the drawing board!
