i5/i7 Laptop with dock & screen Vs Desktop

    Take 2:

    Budget: 500-1500 depending on spec and extended warranty.

    Intended use:College-grad student (SPSS, MS Office, Endnote/Mendeley, Adobe Acrobat & PS primarily, Video/imaging editing occasionally) Independent graphics would also help for the future.

    Mobility:Yes it is a priority (see point 4 below).

    Warranty: Yes please. 3 yr on site NBD. Don't have the time to be messing around troubleshooting for the next while.

    What Operating System do you use? Windows 7 with XP mode for legacy programmes.

    Other:
    (1)Started trading so I need two screens (minimum)
    (2)I was considering Lenovo X220 or similar but when you start changing things they sure get expensive....HP also as they offer dock solutions.
    (3) Battery life would also be important as my job is "evolving" and I would be more on the side of the road between calls...

    With the laptop and dock you have the best of both worlds.
