On a similar note, (if I can piggyback on this question) does anyone know who supplies the rack inserts for the dishwashers?

I found the Carrick Hoover Centre great

+1 for the Carrick Hover Centre - have used David for washing machine and dishwasher - what he can't fix, can't be fixed. Reliable and exceptional value.

Following a fit of pique I had to replace the door of my fridge. Long story. Any way ended up ringing this number with the make and model number, visa details and the door was at my gaff in two days. 80 euro all in(pique is expensive). Had to fit it myself. Easy peasy.

Anyone know any good plumbers (is it plumbers or electricians even?) who can fix dishwashers?

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Have you checked the filter and added salt?

Filter seems to be clear. We use the tablets that contain salt. There seems to be some black residue near the outlet? also a couple of days ago, a cutting board had black streaks on it??

I would try a couple of full cycle washes before calling somebody out.

I used LINK for a washing machine repair and I was very satisfied with the price and service. (Bray Appliance Repairs) Maybe the might offer a remedy over the phone.

Try Googling black streaks dishwasher......lots of info there.
