Hi, I recently signed up for Twitter and have a few followers so far but noticed that they seem to list porno sites on the link on their profiles. Some of them have 0 Tweets so I presume they are just spam and I should block them ??but there are a few who seem to just be ordinary People with normal Tweets but they hve these links on there, like dont get me wrong I'm not a prude (consenting adults and all that) its just that I would like to keep the spam and crap away from my account, just curious, have there sites been hacked and the links stuck on there , ???, I would appreciate any info that might explain it to me. Thanks !

The profiles could have been hacked yes or simply that lots of spam pose just as 'normal people'. I tend not to pay a whole lot of attention to those who follow me in that I don't specifically follow back so I tend not to go checking others profiles much. Occasionally out of curiosity (or time wasting) I'll take a gander through them and if I notice anything that is overtly spam, I'll block and report them.

On the other hand, if someone @ mentions me and they have masked spam in their post (bit.ly 's etc) I block and report them for spam unless they are personally known to me in which case their account may be hacked - the latter doesn't happen that often i've found.

Just go down the list and block/report any obvious spam type people.

Twitter does tend to weed them out over time and you'll find that they vanish quickly.

You can also set your account to private meaning that people have to request to follow you.
